I am making a new machine and want to know which is the best OS for Morrowind. I have access to 98se, ME, XP and 2000 Professional.
Also would like to port over my saved games is it much like Baldurs Gate where I just save the saved games folders or is there more to it? Please specify what needs to be done, it is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Best OS? and Saved Files
I hear good things about XP, but for this game I beleive you need higher requirements for XP then 98SE, but if you have those then you should be fine with XP, I'd stay away from Win2k cause it's not really for gaming and I have Win Me so I suggest staying away from that too, IMHO it's actually worse then Win98SE.
as for the saves just copy the save files and you should be fine.

XP without a doubt! I have used every microsoft OS and have found XP to be the most stable. A great overall OS, even more visually appealing than previous windows versions. If you are building a new computer it is likely you should not have performance issues...
I run Morrowind stably on the following system at maxed out resolution:
Win XP
Athlon XP 1800+
Geforce Ti 500
768 megs Crucial PC2100 DDR
Abit KG-7 RAID
A couple 40 gig HDs in a RAID-0 array
can you say uber?

Don't settle down with anything else than XP. The first OS ever to realize ESTO (Equipment smarther than Operator).
XP boots up faster than Win98 and is comparable to Win2k in stability. Don't know about WinME though.
[edit] For transporting savegames, I always do the following: Deinstall the game without removing saves, then keep all that is left in the game directory. The most safe way to do it, and it also keeps your settings most of the time, too (like hotkey-bindings, graphic settings etc.) [edit end]

Where there's a will, there is a way.
And if there is no way, then we're going to hack and shoot it clear!
