Soloing w/ Sorcerer - minor ** SPOILER**

Post by Somerset »

Finished SoA and ToB with my own sorcerer and the following NPCs: Minsc, Keldorn, Amonen, Nalia and Jaheria / Viconica (alternated in ToB). After reading about soloing I went back and started with a sorcerer, and made it through the dungeon without reloading!

Question: What strategies would you veterans recommend for higher level enemies in larger groups? Possible spoiler below.

-I am thinking in particular of the upstairs of the inn in Athkatla near where you zone in from the dungeon, that group of baddies that give you the cursed sword of beserking after you thump them - seems monsters wouldn't last that long and they have a couple of tough mages.

there you go you lovley lump of sexyness
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Thanks man......... I actually had already read that guide and used it to get started, I was wondering if anyone (besides the author of that document) had actually solo'ed with a sorcerer and had any other tips to pass along.......

My strategy for groups of baddies like in the Mithrest Inn is pretty cheesy, but almost always works. Toss a couple skull traps around, or along the path (eg. doorway, hall) of enemies, but far enough not to be triggered off immediately. I usually follow off with one or multiple fireballs/cloudkills to trigger enemies to run over to me. They all almost usually die as they try to reach me triggering the traps. Oh and I usually have 10+ traps around and spread out. Works well for big groups of Beholder's also.

I'm soloing a swashbuckler/mage, and at the time when he was just a pitiful lv.9 mage with inactivated thief skills, I still managed to kick those guy's asses in the Mithrest. Basically, the best technique I found was throw in a couple of webs or stinking clouds, etc...then rain cloudkill and other area effect spells whilst they're immobilized (that cloudkill wand from dungeon 'came useful). As soon as that's done, you'll probably have to contend to two or three injured warriors yet, so make one or two summons, cast hold person & other nasties, and if you ever need to flee, try luring them one by one down the stairs and then seeing them off.
Check it out! One of my earliest, and certainly, more creative threads! :)
