Need some help with Harpers
Need some help with Harpers
I just hit the Underdark and Jaheira still hasn't been called to duty by the Harpers..should I assume it's not going to happen and that my romance is fooked?
Have you done any of the Haper related quests? Have you been getting romance dialogue from Jaheira?
To check if the romance is working properly, there are two ways:
Using Shadow Keeper
- Load your save game with Shadow Keeper
- Go to the Global Variables section (scroll through the tabs at the top of the small window that appear)
- Look for JaheiraRomanceActive
- Use the scroll bar beneath the portrait to get Jaheira's Portrait
- Go to the Affects section
- Look for LoveTalk, I think the value you want is under Param 1, not too sure though.
Using CLUAConsole, first activate it by:
- Go to the folder where you installed BG2
- Open the file baldur.ini with NotePad
- Add in the line Debug Mode=1 under [Program Options]
- Save and close; then start BG2, and load your save game
- Press CTRL + SPACE and type in:
- CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("JaheiraRomanceActive","GLOBAL") and press ENTER; check the bottom panel for the number
- Put your mouse pointer over Jaheira, and type in:
- CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("LoveTalk","LOCALS") and press ENTER; again, check bottom panel for number.
Post the value for JaheiraRomanceActive and LoveTalk.

Have you experienced the Bandit plot yet? Ensure that you are not in Chapter 7 (you have not yet gone to Suldanesselar).
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

The amulet doesn't affect her romance, though it's a good in-game indication of whether her romance is still active. You'll have to wait until you reach Chapter 6 for Jaheira's romance and Harper plot to continue.
You're about 1/3 of the way through her romance, and it sounds like the Harper plot is waiting on a romance-related event - namely, the Bandit plot, which can be triggered by resting in an outdoor area like the D'Arnise Hold area or the Druid Grove.
BTW - do you have ToB installed?

I'm wondering if some of the events and quests involved with the Jaheira romance are simply based upon how far along you are in the game, day-wise. I know I had the bandit sequence happen outdoors in the Windspear Hills, and I hadn't even given her the amulet at that time. This time around, I fully intend to spend more time doing things so I can allow the romance to play out completely before I finish SoA. I'd hate to go into ToB once again knowing I missed some things.
