BGDungeon Tavern

Post by DrSlikk »

Have any of you here ever went by the bgdungeon tavern? it was this big forum for all the bioware rpgs, like this, and it was great.unfortuantely it closed down a long time ago, but it was really something.anyway, on it we had these guilds for different classes.there was a ranger/druid guild, a thief guild, a mage guild.so, i think we should start that here, with all the guild politics and intrigue ofcource.

and i propose the first guild be the Hidden Dagger guild, which i was the leader of at th bgdungeon forums.feel free to propose new guilds and lets see where it takes us.also, all u thieves out there, feel free to join my guild.

Yes, several of us here were at the BGDungeon tavern. ;)
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

It may have been Kitka - I think she had posted a message about this forum shortly before the Tavern closed.

Indeed! I agree with that 100%!

What I thought was rather funny was the titles you would gain as you had more posts.

This is discussed here I believe.

I liked it, but it could also result in a "i'll make 20more useless posts so i am a dragonslayer" attitude

What i'm realy scared about here (that's why i stopped posting in color) is that you'll get every one posting in a color, and signatures of 1/2page wide like you see at some other forums

I was there, for quite some time. Came over when it closed. Never regretted the move. :)

According to the site owner and people who knew him, the main reason BGDungeon closed was the competitive, angry, polarized guilds, and the endless complaints about one one another and from within 'em that he received. GameBanshee is different. It doesn't allow for class guilds with politics, intrigue, etc. The BG2 forums here are for answering questions and making observations about the game. If you want to shoot the breeze, there's always the SYM (Speak Your Mind) category. Consider checking it out. ;)

If you want to ask Buck directly, though, put up your idea in the GameBanshee Discussion category. :)

I've seen a few boards, and I must say I like this one the best. :D I've rarely posted on any other (I don't post that often anyway), and find that here on the GB forum, moderators moderate things, flames are quickly quenched, and spam stays on the supermarket aisle where it belongs. Very nice.

Yep, I remember lurking there in its final days. Was very pleased to have found this site though. It's so much better!

I liked BGDungeon too. This board is great aswell ofcourse but it seemed like there was more activity at BGDungeon. Maybe it was the guild politics then... Maybe I should change my sig now that the guilds don't exist anymore.
I totally agree with stilgar about the colour posts. This board is nice and clean and easy to navigate.

Say it aint so, no I won't believe it. Well, I guess I won't be going to sleep tonite.

No, this was a composite problem that was some time in growing. The site owner had been getting tons of complaints, largely from non-guild members about guild members, and from members of each guild about the other guilds. I don't think you were a major contributing factor, though I'm pretty sure (from what I've been told) all the guild business finally got to him.
