I just picked up Valgar to do the Planar Sphere( I don't know if I'll keep him afterwards, I had to let go of Amonen, suggestions?), and I've read that CF is the best backstabbing weapon ( I've yet to try backstabbing at all). I have CF and I was wondering if I cast invisabilty on Val, then hide in shadows to BS,BS, then use Ring of Invisability, will i be able to immediately hide in shadows again since i'm technically not in sight?
Also any suggestions on Valgar versus anybody else I have will be appreciated. Thanks!
PC fighter dualing Daystar and the drinker( until Equalizer)
Minsc with FOA and +3 axe (until Crom Fayer)
Keldorn with Carmosyer
Nalia (great spells)
Aerie (some spells and clerical)
Amonen ( Mace of Disruption) will upgrade to +2 soon.

If you backstab, you have to run out of sight from any enemies before you can hide in shadows again. But you could use the ring of invisibility to back stab again straight away...
Ordinary invisibility is broken totally when you attack and even improved invisibility won't let you back stab again straight away unless you use another ring or potion. Or you could just run round a corner and hide in shadows again.
Its very worthwhile if you upgrade as soon as you can.

I far prefer Valygar, because he's grumpy and cynical, and that suits me just fine. Anomen is an arrogant f(udge)wit who I enjoy turning to stone and decorating my Thieve's Guild with.
Still, Anomen's a cleric, and Valygar's not. If you decide you need more healing more often, go with Annie. But remember, until he takes his test, he gets no wisdom-based extra spells.

First, let us spell the name of our young knight correctly. It should be Anomen.
For your party, I recommend Cernd or Jaheira, since you have no druidic spells. And that you drop either Minsc, Keldorn or Nalia for Jan or Imoen (preferably Minsc for Jan), since you could do with some more thief skills. The alternative would be to have lots of Knock and Find Traps memorized.
In the choise between Valygar and Anomen, I recommend Anomen. You already have enough fighters. (And Anomen can tank as well, besides providing you with useful clerical spells.) But if you want the backstabbing, then Valygar is your choise, even if the party then gets a bit to fighter heavy for my taste.
