raw ebony
Okay, newbie thief on a quest to find some raw ebony. Where's a good place to start?

Well, yes, but I was actually thinking of what a shame it is that you're never given the chance to make your own armor. Has anyone seen a blacksmith produce ebony, glass, etc, armor after the raw stuff was purchased by him?

Well, yes, @Preiter, but that wasn't the point--no offense intended. Most of us know about that mine; many of us could tell you every single rock in that mine.
If smithing had been an implemented skill, I think it would need to be separate from repairing armor and weapons. It should also require very expensive gear to do well. On the other hand, it seems reasonable to expect that you could bring some raw ebony (or whatever) to a good, friendly smith, and (like Caspenar in BG2) have them accept plenty of additional money to turn around a good piece of armor to your specifications within a week or more. Who knows, might even be moddable.

That actually makes me feel better about the mod. Maybe I'll use it with armorer as a major skill with my next character.Originally posted by Sirius_Sam
That's a pretty good mod (the guy that designed it also designed the 'Bank' mod), but I've never been able to make anything except iron or steel armor...maybe my Armorer skill is just not high enough to try the better glass and ebony forging (it's between 50-60).
