Why MR makes any character worthwhile
Well first off "don something" was a typo but it really doesnt matter because you guys get the drift. I did do this and I did fight the slayer...afterwards I found that my MR had raised by 50%. I've not seen it anywhere...but then again I had the book from versus books and they didn't have the area in there either. Yet we ALL know it exists. Go figure!
Hey I don't know what your talking about, but you can only get there by the AREA cheat stupid! I have done this, and yes you do get the MR but I only got 30%. Maybe it's different for alignment?.....anyways the bejural doesn't work and neither does a rogue stone so you have to do it by the cheat. Dingle nutts!

Mythalos: We all (well a lot of us anyway) know the area exists and about the Slaver v Slaver fight. The question was how you managed to get there without using the console. You still haven't given a complete answer and noone has been able to duplicate the result given the clues you gave.
Additionally, since the trigger is not in the area (Savarius) this looks suspicious. If in fact it works somehow, it must be area independent...ie, you could do it from anywhere.

Allright I do have 50%MR and I did not use a cheat to get it. I did fight with the Slayer, and I assumed that was how I got it. Since I looked at it after that and saw what the MR was. Maybe I'm missing something..maybe it was from something else..the point is I got it...and I fought the Slayer. If you guys can get there from the AREA cheat then by all means do it like that.
This post was NEVER meant to fool anyone or to be false/untruthfull. I apologize if you don't get the same results and/or I'm leaving something out...or even possibly mistaken. I did not expect to get this much attention as I assumed other people had done this as well.

The point is, if I have to use the area cheat to get there, as far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist. I refuse to use that cheat.
However, I want to get there! So, if there is another way to do it, I want to know what...I obviously missed it my first 4 times through, as did every walkthrough writer I am aware of, so it's not easy...

How about mythalos you just be specific and tell us what you did exactly and what other stuff your main had in inv and maybe we can figure it out.

Oh well I am finished with this post. I don't know how exactly I did it, but I did get there. Only one person has said they were able to do this as well so I'm left to believe that it's a fluke thing....or a very very hard thing(lucky) to get.
I was in the Tethyr forest near the Wyvern priests when the screen went black then faded into the area with the slayer.
I had a bejural, a rogue stone, a scroll case, and the identify glasses in my inv.

First came the bragg:
"There is a way to get your natural MR(not enhanced my magic items) to be 50%, but I'm not going to tell you."
Then came the claim for status:
"Of course this does NOT involve cheats or editors."
Then came the insult:
"Alright then for all of you that don't like to explore and figure things out for yourself here goes..."
Then came the retreat from the claim:
"Just use the AREA cheat guys...kill the slayer and tell us what happens. you'll get the MR..."
And finally, the indication that the boast wasn't solid:
"Oh well I am finished with this post. I don't know how exactly I did it, but I did get there."
What a waste of time and effort. I'd be more sympathetic, Mythalos, if a chest-puffed-out attitude and lordly condescension, quote above, wasn't evident in your comments.
I've been posting hints about the game ever since it came out, on other forums. I never assumed that other players were lazy (as you did), or boasted of any accomplishment (which is silly, since we're only talking about playing a game for a few hours, as opposed to writing a book, say, over a period of years). With due respect, make this whole waste of time a worth it, and learn a bit of humility in dealing with others.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I found this in RPGplanet's preview for Throne of Bhaal:
"The Watcher's Keep is the add-in area of the expansion that can be accessed either before or after the end of Baldur's Gate II. The rest of the areas are an add-on and can only be accessed after Baldur's Gate II is completed. This latter area completes the Bhaalspawn story of the series. The first area is the dark Forest of Tethir, which has large head statues scattered around like on Easter Island. Their eyes glow and they talk with you…spooky. From there, you can get to the "Pocket Plane", what is considered your home. The small town of Saradush, on the waterfront, is also for you to explore."
Don't those Easter Island heads sound a lot like those exact same heads in AR2700? Heads that talk to you? Yes, you can get to this area without cheating, but it looks like you'll have to wait for the expansion.

Well then when the expansion comes out I'll try it again and see, however I stand by my claim that ne'er a cheat was used to get there.
As for you fable I have a few defenses that I would like to throw your way. I did not have the intention of misleading anyone when I posted this site. I was not going to "give" anything away, however when people complained that the post was ;and I quote; "useless" I decided to share my experience.
What is amazing is that I assumed there were other people that had this same experience for themselves. Low-and-behold I seem to be one of only two people that has done this.
I have come to the conclusion that it may be due to an error with my CD or something along those lines. Obviously the location IS there...thus the only disclaimer is how did I get there without the AREA cheat. For that I have told what was in my inventory and where I was at the time of the incident. I asked others to see if they could get the same result, but to no avail.
If you were to browse you would find that I have posted a few replies in the past few weeks on this site and never have I had any problems such as this. If you feel that I have tried to "fool" you in anyway please feel free to e-mail me at burresi@autonation.com I will answer any questions that you feel I have been dishonest about.
As for my integrity I stick to my claim. Though I do acknowledge the possibility of computer error and/or that I may have left something out of the equation which would equal success.
Thank you,
Mythalos
