The dragon that won't die (spoiler)

Post by clacka »

After many hours of trying to kill saladrex, I am ready to turn to the forum for help. My problem is that every 130 or so hit points of damage I do to him, he heals himself. He has healed himself up to three times per melee and my buffing and spells wear off and he kills me.

How do I get him not to heal himself? Or am I missing something.

Do you have 4 tanks capable of G Whirlwind? I don't suppose so, or you wouldn't be asking :)

There is one cheese which you may wield to smite all dragons though (Dragon: Ugh! Cheddar Breath!)

If you have the acid katana Sanchuudoku +4 from Kuroisan in the solaufein mod.. simply cast some prots on the character wielding the weapon and charge up to the dragon and whack... drink lots of healing potions and a potion of regen 'forehand and witness the wyrm falling to tons of 1,2,3 acid damage hits :)
You know, this reminds me of that time... waay back...

Tried everything

The problem is that he keeps healing himself. Doing damage is no problem, its keeping from healing that is the problem.

I think I have tried everything. I guess I will come back when I am more experienced and have cooler spells.

Do you have some improved Dragons mod installed? He was easy enough for me with 3 tanks (Human Fighter PC, Sarevok, Keldorn), but I had already killed Abazigal so that`s no big suprise... :)

Who do you have in your party?

my advice is to post this in the TOB forum because they may know how to kill a dragon in TOB better :p
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

If your worried about him casting heal on himself, try casting insect swarm on him with Jaheira. Supposedly it induces 100% spell failure, but I'm not quite sure it'll apply to dragons. Tried it myself on the dragon at Suldanesslar, but don't remember if it worked. If you wanna level up some more go to lv.3 of Watcher's Keep. Try the area where you fight the group of tieflings and rest over and over till a battle ensues. Skele's give 110K, Balors give 80K? per battle. Oh yea make sure you save alot cause they have a habit of chunking characters.

Erm... you're level 13 average and you're fighting Saladrex... thats *close* to Nalmissra and Demogorgey... and they aren't pushovers. I did Watcher's Keep at level 25 to 30+... so I'm not exactly sure whether my low-level party techniques may work for you...

When I fought earlier SoA dragons at level 12, I used 3 Lower Resistances and G Malison and Doom and started pounding with spells (feeblemind, hold monster, slow, glitterdust, spook) while sacrificing front line fighters to distract the dragon (Dragon AI is awful)

Level 13 is too low for WK level four.

I must say that I admire the fact that you obviously managed it trough level three at even lower level, but even if you overcome Saladrex you'll have two problems: You will get sliced in level five and you will be bored as hell when you return to SoA, because you have built up way too many levels in WK and will leave WK too overpowered to enjoy the rest of the game.

Yes, I have come to that conclusion

I have decided to try to work my way out of watcher's keep. I would have done this some time ago but was daunted by the fact that I would have to find my way out. If anyone knows an easy way out of Watcher's Keep, I would be happy to hear it. Otherwise, I will try to find my way out or load an earlier game.

Thanks for your help thus far.

Why don't you take the portal on that level out?

You can leave WK directly on any level; there are five doors outside to re-enter the levels you have entered before. The door to the outside is placed besides the door to the next level.

It tells you on the map which is the exit and which is the next/previous level portal... But you probably already knew that.

Live to fight another day...

Well I found the exit and am on my way back to SoA. I definitely got in over my head but have left watchers keep to come back when I am more experienced. I did get some cool items to hit SoA with though.

Thanks for all of your help! Watchers Keep was on my map so I thought I could probably handle it. Guess not!

Level 1 isn´t that hard, just need some good planning.
Level 2 can be done with a +-level 10 party also,
but the other level you should wait with untill the end of SoA or even in ToB
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
