@Karembeu: I totally agree about the ref in Brazil-Turkey. The penalty was IMO only one of several mistakes from the ref, although the penalty was probably what affected the result most. At 2 Turkish free-kicks, the ref did nothing about the Brazilian players running forward far closer than 9.15 meters. It is doubtful whether Rivaldo's header was really off-side. I also think both Rivaldo and Sukur should have received yellow cards for their acting skills - instead Sukur got a free-kick in a very good position and Rivaldo got nothing. Of course Unsal should be sent off for kicking the ball at Rivaldo's thigh, but Rivaldo's acting, first pretending to have been hit in the face, then in the chest, was a disgrace. I love Brazilian football (doesn't everybody), but Rivaldo just dropped a few levels in my eyes.

At least Liverpool will mount some counter-attacks, and show a much better defensive effort.

How did the English press react?? Was Mills given too much blame for his mistake? I saw where he was readily accepting blame for the loss. While he did botch the clearing attempt, the game easily could have been 2-1, or 3-1.

Brasil X Turkey:

I like the game, Brasil made lots of oprotunuties to goal; and the game was really fun and energic.
The main Brazilian problem, probably the purpose of Turkey made 1 goal, is the 3-5-2 system of players instead of 4-4-2 standart. 3-5-2 is European kind of strat, don't seems to work here; Hope Felipe Scholari change for 4-4-2 soon. And Denilson must start in field.
And the score reflect the overall game, I myself would say a 3-1 more apropriate, but I'm a little partial.

The Arbiter:
Shameful, Terrible, Catastrophic. There was no penalty, for Brazil. In my count he made up 4 faults were exist none. Nulify one brazilian goal when the ball don't not cross the corner line. He also gives one yellow card to a Turkey player when he doesn't actually see the fault, only because of brasilian players pression.

Rivaldo for Hollywood:
Why are you so shocked, people, in football, fake all the time. You must see the internal championship, some players really deserves the Oscar. That is very normal, specially for experinced players like Rivaldo.
[Sorry about my English]

Well Brazil - Turkey game might had its drawbacks but one thing i loved most. Ronaldo! it's been a while since i saw him play so well. It was great :D , And Ronaldinio seems to live up to his fame.

And the Italians, wow they played for about 20 minutes secured the game and then laid back, Imagine at some point Equador had 61% ball possesion  but without causing any significant threat to the Italian defense. Did you see what happened when Del Piero entered the field? :) Not that he did anything when he was in other than give a couple of false passes, but they just love this guy.

I know Delacroix, all players exaggregate the movements when they fall etc, but Rivaldo overdid it a lot - and I'm not used to see the best Brazilian players fake that much. Some teams and some specific players are famous for their acting skills, but Brazil and Rivaldo are not among them.

@Demis: Yes, it was great to see Ronaldo was hot again :) and his goal was a real beauty. Unfortunately I only know the result from the Italy-Equador game, I can't watch TV at the lab and there was no evening repeat of that game :( Was it possible to assess the Italian team, or was Equador so far behind so no conclusions can be drawn?

I never doubted the skill of the Italian team, even thought they played with a fairly lesser opponent, they did what they had to do in the simplest of ways. The started the match played great the first 25 minutes, lost several chances to scores, 2 of them were transformed into goals from Vieri(7' & 27' and then laid back, kept their strength and protected without major problems their post. Nothing less nothing more. They have shown they are very serious this WC, have excellent physical condition and i large roster of great players. :)

Brazil vs Turkey:
The more I think about the Rivaldo incident, the more I see why he did it. Still it was a low act and I didn't rate the referee very highly in that game.

i may not be the best commentator on football, but i've played it all my life and what rivaldo did was ridiculous, i understand tooking a dive and such but that was pathetic, there's no other word to describe it. the penalty was as bad judgement as it could be, the red card was right, but the guy fall OUTside penalty area not inside he just rolled into it, but then again the linesman waved rivaldo head goal as an off-side which it wasn't, brazilians deserved to win no doubt, but still...

i don't know about other countries commentators on the cup, but finnish one did nothing but praise every single simplest thing denilson did on the field, that was humorous...

at one time denilson had the ball in front of him, he then moved the ball with the interior of his foot to behind him and passed the ball to carlos with his heel. or when he took a step to right then took the ball with him to his left with his left leg... DUH!!! everyone can do that, we had football practises the same evening and everyone LTAO(t=their) and whenever rivaldo/denilson got the ball they always switched it to their left leg, they couldn't do almost nothing with their right leg

and before bashing, no i'm not as good as a football player as they are, no i can't do all the same tricks as they do etc. but if players who are so much appreciated(rivaldo is good IMO truly) why are they so dependant on their left leg, and IMO denilson sucks he didn't do anything except lost the ball.

Well the Japan Belgium game is on now, but I'll guess I'll wait for the Korea and Poland game. The Koreans are definetly the dark horses of the tournament. ;)

Actually I heard this morning that Rivaldo may be reprimanded by FIFA for what he did yesterday. The incident will be discussed today, and we will know tomorrow for sure if he will be banned for a game or two...

@Brink: Hey there...everything's alright here...how about you?!?

Just watched a marvellous game between Japan and Belgium. Too bad the referee came into focus again because of some "contradictorary" decisions.... >>>Highlight for result>>>

The final result was 2-2. Japan played extremely offensive football, especially in the second half. Wilmots scored a lovely opener for Belgium. Japan scored two good goals before Belgium levelled the game. Japan also scored a third goal by Inamoto...but the referee didn't allow it because of a foul in the box...(wrongfully IMO)
And at the very end Belgium should have had a penalty kick....but they got a corner...

@Karembeu-I'm doing fine here too :)

Ahhh....at least Japan proved to be a worthy competitior :) .Seriously speaking, I think FIFA should launch an extensive probe into the refereeing of all the World Cup matches after the competition is over

Here is the Brazilian coach on Rivaldo's dive. "Rivaldo made a defensive movement because the ball hit him on the leg and was travelling upwards. The ball hit him on the hand because he was protecting his face.
And now he is blaming....."The press is saying Rivaldo is going to be punished because they think that is the most interesting story. But the importance of the incident has been exaggerated."

Korea-Poland:2-0

The Koreans had a good game :) .I'm changing my pick for World Cup finalists to Korea and Japan(instead of China and Japan seeing as to how poorly the Chinese played earlier :( )
