Umbra!!!!

Post by Biljac »

Anyone killed this guy yet?? One mean SOB!! He uses the longsword Umbra and its also his name. He wants to die but so far I can't kill him even with full summoned gear, d. greaves, summoned axe (1-80), a flame atronach at my side, level 5 shield spell, and Adrenelin Rush on. He is resistant to magic also. Looked in the TEC and he is level 20 orc warrior. Stats: 100 str., 80 willpower, 100 agility, 400 hitpoints. Hence he whacks the crap outta ya and ya might as well forget magic. Umbra the sword is 10-50, 10-45, 10-40 and ignores any normal weapon resistances that its target may have. Also has a the enchantment, Umbra's hunger, a 120 duration soul trap with 2500 enchant and 6500 health. I know its probably possible to create better weapons maybe, but I am staying away from cheese tactics. I want to beat the game in the game's rules, so if you say you have whipped this guy but used some exploit, as far as I am concerned you didn't really beat him. But to each his own I reckon.

Didnt find this guy till level 25 so dunno if it was a fair fight. Anyways he did pack a wallop. I remember all I had was ebony armor and the good old white woe. Quite honestly only chugged down 2-3 health potions so I don't think I cheesed as well some fatigue potions. Reason is, if your fatigue is low, he stands a really good chance of knocking you down, thereby causing some serious damage while on the ground. That's all and to boot this freakn cliff racer was pecking my head while Umbra and I were killing each other. No cheese tactics, except for "F9"........... ;)

Im an Assasin so obviously it did not work for me to stand toe to toe with the orc bastard. So I used my sly wit (and my 91 acrobatic skill) to make a plan where I got him attacking me then ran down to a ledge with rocks that with my incredable and time consuming to improve Acrobatic skill paid off because I could jump on the boulder and my orc friend could not. I then proceeded to fill him up with arrows and bolts with my stellar marksmanship skill as the big hefty ogre warrior in medium armor ran around the bottom of the rock a sly wood elf assasin in light armor was kicking his arse :) Now some might call that cheese, I say brain over brawn and quite within my roleplaying creed

Fitz, I agree completely :)

I also play an assassin and killed the green guy by sneaking and chasing him down...killed him with a Bound Dagger, and he never even saw me ;) .

is possible to levitate past guy? then pelt all day with firestorms???

also my new dia katana does 2-20 damage health per hit, with duration of 2 seconds, so about 8 whacks later, he is reeling with multiple spells eating his life out...a sword with a 2 second damage health is awesome beyond belief...

any more than 2 seconds, it eats charges too fast..
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

I drank one of each of my str and agi potions, bringing str to about 200 and whacked away. Did it at around lvl 22, it was the hardest battle I have had so far I think. But what a payoff! The umbra sword kicks serious ass and his armor isn't too shabby.
Oh yeah, and lowering his stats should make a big difference, the only thing I could do at the time was -20 agi, but if you could lower his str as well the outcome should be better.

Bad thing is though, his high immunity to magic. He isn't completely immune but at 80 willpower he is close. Well I see now why I can't beat him. yet :) I'll come back for him when I gain some. At least I know he can be beaten. thanks.

Tell us how you take him out when you kill him. It will be a tough battle for you with his resistance. Summoning would seem to be the best bet to keep him busy while you cast damage, but he can take summoned creatures down very quickly. At least the ones I have seen.

Why not just levitate above him and rain death (in the form of spells or arrows) down on him?

I killed this guy with my level 8 Samurai...shot a fireball at him and ran like hell back down to Suran, led him up to the 2nd floor of the clothier's store, went into the shop...went out the downstairs entrance, snuck by the stairs (so he wouldnt see me) then went up the hill behind the store and jumped on the roof. I then proceeded to run forward, hit and then run backwards...took me a while but now i got a level 8 with the Umbra sword :D
My computer has wheels, so it can run over the other, inferior computers!

I had a nice experience with this one. I came across UMBRA around 19th level. I was just wandering around when i meet this decked out fighter telling me that he could not be beaten and this was a blessing/curse that he could not be beaten. Well i saved game and give it my all and he slices and dices me.
Ok fine. I take a look at the situation and notice a rock. I just happen to have a bow with about 300 arrows and lets just say that I walked away with some very nice stuff- and i never used a potion.

Buddy, you didn't use a potion because you used a terrain exploit... Nothing to be proud of. Trapping guys at the base of rocks and cliffs, or behind objects is a terrain exploit and is a way of cheating. In games like Everquest you can be banned for that crap.

Lol, aren't I pessimistic?

Y'know, there's a reason why there's an entire section of http://www.somethingawful.com devoted just to Everquest....

Right... I'm not going to argue whether you like EQ or not. I hope you have played it for a while before judging it. Anyway, mmorpgs are cool because, in general, there is little to no cheating. EQ has decided to defy some laws of physics in order to stop cheating, and it was a good decision.
Now what was your arguement? Don't make comments if you have absolutely no point.

its not an exploit if the game is so stupid as to stand there and catch arrows from an unreachable opponent in stead of running away. I say DIE FOREST DIE

My comment had a point: plenty of people think Everquest is awful, so holding it up as an example of how to do things is specious. And Doc, don't piss me off by telling me what I can and can't comment on. One, you have no right and no authority to. Two, you presume a hell of a lot to try. And three, I have no patience for it -- if I didn't have more respect for Fable then you seem to, I'd have blasted you good for it.

Gents, let's not go this way again, okay? I have no problem with the subject of what's cheating and what isn't in MMORPGs--hell, I was on DragonRealms' gamemaster team for four years, so this was a constant topic of internal conversation. But if you want to discuss or even argue this, please agree to two things:

1) Do it over in SYM, the Speak Your Mind category. It's more pertinent than under Morrowind, and you'll actually get a lot more comments. Feel free to start up such a topic.

2) Argue without letting it get personal. Remember, this board is a flame-free zone. Buck wants it that way, and I agree: it's really nice to find a place like this on the web, instead of the usual shouting and trolling.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Met this guy with my level 25 assassin.

No trouble, he fell to the same tactics I have always used. Glass jinkblade, whack whack whack with black hands/ebony shortsword, glass jinkblade, whack whack whack...etcetera.

He never even swung.

I'm confused about the resistance to magic bit tho', coz he never once resisted paralyze.
