Cheer for Senegal for a round until they are knocked out
That is exactly my point, she has nothing to do with anything really yet they would ingratiate her into every possible commentary even though she is possibly one of the most uninteresting people on planet Earth *sigh* Nope i am sure she couldn't remove her high heels long enough to kick a football, if she did she would probably puncture it

Originally posted by Robnark he's done very well indeed, as far as i can tell. it was an exceptional achievement to get Enland into a qualifying position - i believe they were bottom when he took over - and with a team that no-one rated highly at all, we're looking pretty good for going through at the moment. i'm quite impressed by him, and the way he's been quietly optimistic through the thick and the thin, never overhyping the team, but never coming away sounding negative. he's good at his job
He has given a chance to players we all gasped at. Four years ago, Owen was an unknown entity - they all know him well now. But Vassell?? Yes!! Vassell! his speed, his guile, I am sold! He also has faith in Ferdinand - what a great performance today!...let us bring these young ones forward and not end up in the same old aged capped situation as the Germans. It may work for them, but it will not for the English. Draw on the young blood I say, and harness the maturity of Seaman (yes - sometimes I sigh), Beckham (Another World Cup and hopefully a few more), Owen, (they watch him now, but he is talent ) then Hargreaves, Ashley Cole, and Darius Vassell

Well done England 1-0 was a huge effort and it was a fantastic match. I was going for England and was glad to see them have some success against argies.
The argies wew the favourite of the tournament so it was bigger than big. All they have to is draw with a Nigeria.
I think England are one of the most entertaining sides there by far.
I think the African teams have been quite overated (lot of press reports about that here).
Who's your favourite team in the WC? (mines England and Ireland)

Anyway I'm praying here that France only hit draw game. That'll really send them packing ! Oh joy ! The joy to see those underdogs in real action taking away all attention to them.
BTW The Diesel seems run out of fule on their last game
@Yshania-Well, they could get knocked out of the European Championships
The Koreans are pretty good, if you ask me...although their style of playing, which involves a whole lot of running, could wear them out before they could go the distance

To be honest i didn't like the England - Agrentina game to much, not because the teams weren't playing good football but because these two teams could play a lot better having some of the best players in their roster. Ok the game was too important especially for England, but i was kind of dissapointed.

I'm just watching Slovenia-South Africa. It's by far the most boring game I've seen so far. Sluggish, unenergetic, non-creative...I think I'll go out in the kitchen an make myself a caffe latte instead...

Well you have to expect the odd game here and there. Just wait till the Azzuris play. They're tempted to use the "Terrible Trio" up front. Vieri, Totti and Inzhagi.
I just woke up and i was bored to go watch the current match ... btw goodmorning everyone ..., i'm waiting for Italy
@Tamerlane, they actually said the would use all three of them. this is definitely something worth waiting for

Wise desicion! and if Croatia does not use some of its younger players (Go Vlaovic - i'm supporting Panathinaikos here ) they are really going to have a hard time with the Italians. However i predict that Italy will play amazing for a while and then lay back again(assuming the trio will score a couple of goals first).

@Demis: Good morning to you and everybody else too of course
I'm also waiting for Italy - Croatia, when you see the current game it's difficult to believe it's the WC.
@at99: My favorite team is Nigeria, they are however out now so I'm cheering for Senegal as long as they stay in the tournament, then England
@Least favorite team: I'm not so fond of Argentina, but that has more to do with historical things (I developed an aversion towards Argentinian football after the "hand of God" incident), I do think they play very well.
@all: What's the best match you have seen do far? I thought England-Argentina and Brazil-Turkey were good games. My selection is however limited by the bothersome fact that I can't watch football at work, so I've missed many games this week.

Uruguay-France
My choice is biased for numerous reasons.
Firstly my ancestory goes back to France, and a fair few of my relatives still live there. So naturally I'd keep an interest in their games. And secondly Uruguay knocked Australia out of the qualifiers. All thanks to bad boy Silva that is
It was pretty much a case of what could have been, had Australia won the second leg, and of the dire situation that France found itself into.
EDIT- Its also the most exciting draw that I've seen so far.

Well in the same game one of the greatest goal(if not the greatest) was scored by the some guy with the "hand of God" , i my self don't like Argentina for other reasons though.

Hm, best match, let' see even if several games were very good i vote for:
Paraguay vs S. Africa
Germany vs Ireland
Spain vs Paraguay
Brazil - Turkey (just for Ronaldo's performance)

@Tamerlane: Most people's choices are probably biased, since we all cheer for or dislike certain teams
I unfortuntely only saw part of the France-Urugay game.
The Slovenia - South Africa game is finished, result: 0-1
The Swedish commentators says the most exciting thing that happed in this game was when a players dropped his shoe...

I saw that too!
I can see the TV down the hall way
EDIT- spoiler
The winning coaches reaction was quite amazing. Looks like he himself scored a goal.

My aversion towards Argentina started when Maradona first said it was "the hand of god", then later he said it was the hand of Maradona, but the Argentinian team stated it felt even better to beat the English by managing to fooling the referee. I know this was after the Falkland war and everything, but I still think it's really bad sportsmanship to be proud over having used false play to win a game. This was a long time ago (1986), but over the years I haven't seen anything that has shown Argentina do not have this attitude any longer.
What are the reason you don't like Argentina's team?
EDIT: Just saw the English tabloids on Sky News, one newspaper had "The foot of god" as headline. Obviously the English didn't like the infamous hand of god either...

Fair enough .
What are the reason you don't like Argentina's team?
Firstly during 90' WC it was a game between Argentina - Brazil , i was a huge fun of brazil that time.
Brazil kept pounding Argentina defense for about 70-80 minutes but they just couldn't score and then at the first chance Agrentina had after 80 minutes they scored and managed to disqualify Brazil. They passed to the quaterfinals. I was very angry and dissapointed and seen all the Brazilians brake down and cry ... it was too much .
And secondly because they've beated Greece 4-0 over at 94' WC .
