How in the craze do u kill the shade lord??
how do u kill the tosser-he just frezzes my party wif somw gay spell and then hacks me ****less. help me plz. soeomne give me some tactics cause this site dont tell you
Did you kill the big altar? That will keep the things from spawning, and the spell he is using is likely Symbol of Stun (Save at -4, or be stunned 2 rounds +1 round per three levels of the caster).
I don't think there really is a defense against that....except for Barbarian Rage, or Berserking or REALLY good saving throws.
Okay...try moving away from him /immediately/ after entering the room, maybe leave one person there to take the spell, /then/ attack the altar, and him. Killing the altar will destroy his summoned shadows.

every thing has a counter, PoMR.
for stun defense, free action. this is why rimg of free action is so important. get ring, have fighter weear helm of charm protection and aegirs hide armor, and the fighter can go up against mind flayers and stom them silly. mind flayers can confuse, charm, stun you.

Just keep the Shade Lord busy and he won't be able to cast. Move at least one person into close combat with him, and if you looks like he might get a spell off, use Magic Missile on him.
Take out the Altar first with everyone else, then the Shade Lord.

Did you fight Shadow Dragon? If yes, then I don't get it how can the Shade Lord be of any problem at all He's always a pushover, I usually set 1 tank - my main char usually - on him and the rest of the party whacks the shadows, Patrick and the Altar and done. He's "sturdier" then the rest of rabble around him, but in any case he's a pushover and gets spanked bad.
If you didn't fight the Shadow Dragon, i.e. it's too tough yet for your party, then yes, the Shade Lord might be peskier.. Buff before you go to the dragon room, then enter it, run thru it fast and to the lord, in hopes that the buffs wont wear off before Definately Haste your party. What chars you have in the party? In any case, try to send a good tank on him, with some missile attacker with fast weapon as well. Set secondary tank (with the backup of ranged chars) to whack the Patrick, shadows and the Altar. When the Shade Lord starts to cast some spell and your tanks/ranged chars keep missing it, smack it fast with some Magic Missiles. Mages can also use the Melf's Minute Meteors (lvl 3 spell), these are good fast thingies. Basically, set one tank and, say, 2 mages with MMM's (if you have 2, if not then 1 will also do) on the Lord and the second tank with whatever chars left on the rest of the stuff. With second team, kill Patrick, kill shadow, destroy Altar and then all on the Lord. He'll go down nicely..

oiledbad-mofo is exactly right, use the Daystars ocne a day ability and the shadelord will be a nice shade of golden brown in seconds, same with bohdi, incase you need help with her, or that annoying vampire mage you fight the first tiem throguh bohdis lair, I hate her, always maze's my main character, and that early it sucks to avoid maze........
Trap most devious for the careless of foot......
real easy. The Minute you get there and the Dialogue ends, Pause. you got 2 options here, and neither requires any really good items or anything. so Like Hit pause Instantly.
now you could either Have Jaheira if you got her cast Insect Swarm. Any mages you got cast Fireball directly behind the altar, and just keep fireballing while fanning your troops out, so if some get stunned it wont even be an issue. and then just spell him down, his hp are low enough that a series of fireballs will just kill him in 2 seconds.
The shades are easy mop up.
next, this is sorta silly but it worked real well. Fan out, and have your mages or a mage cast Web. Web affects the altar and just about every unit including the shades. Now you prolly got Mazzy at this point and shes grand mastered in Shortbow. so by all means load her up with arrows of piercing and have a mage cast Cloud kill. Between Web, cloud kill, and fireballs the whole thing is easy. Because your fanned out, stun wont even really be all that effective

The Shade Lord? A gay spell? I didn't know he walked that way...
In any case, he's easy to kill. Just send a melee type or two out to attack him. Try to keep a few party members focused on the altar, which will keep spawning annoying pests as long as it exists. You might try a small summons spell, in order to further distract the guy.
You know, maybe he did lean that way. He was wearing that mauve cloak and all that jewelry; or maybe he'd just been to Las Vegas. Hmmm...

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

better than day star!!!
Azuredge!!!
if you install teh kevin patch for tob and soa, you will know it fixes a lot of cheese. I like it, since it makes new cheese hard to find. bu one result of the patch is I can kill undead very consistantly with azuredge. unded disrupt happens a LOT now, and azuredge is better than day star, cause the throw radius is better than sunray radius.
use fighter with a greater whirlwind, or just good axe skills, NOT korgy, and you should be able to disrupt the shade lord.

The best way to start fights - it's usually when YOU start it and get the first hit in. It isn't actually that hard to do at all. Simply go to options and turn on the "Pause when Enemy Sighted" or something like this.. With this thingie on, the game will pause AS SOON as there is ANY emeny in line of sight. Which means that you can prepare the starting or opening "moves".
Regarding to the Shade Lord - I had all chars Hasted as I already said, I went into it's 'area' and the game immediately paused, because of that option and because the Shade Lord is 'enemy', 'hostile' (red circle under him). Then I simply assigned main tank (main char as well) on him, and rest on Patrick. I didn't kill the Altar first, in fact I left it to be the last so that I could pump more XP out of it hehe.. Yes I know, maybe it's the overkill.. But in Irenicus dungeon I also KILLED first ALL the lightning mephits the machine was producing and THEN turned it off, not right away hehe..
Anyway, when all chars were 'assigned', I unpaused and the main char was upon the Shade Lord BEFORE he even managed to spoke like lightning. Whacked the Lord once and then he spoke, fool as he is.. When his speech was over, my melee char simply turned him into shadow sushi right there on spot, he didn't even have a chance to groan. In any case, he's like a goblin, as easy to kill, just takes few more whacks
