Bonewalkers and overencumberance

Post by Brook »

Up at Vas, bonewalkers have a nasty habit of draining strength, thereby reducing what you can carry. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Carry several potions of restore endurance and strength, or acquire the relevant spells.

Restore Spells

I posted about this before (perhaps a search would be in order next time). However, I will also tell you the best way to combat this unfortunate occurance. Get a good ring and go to the temple and buy a Restore X spell, where X=any attribute. Go to your local enchanter, and make your ring restore 10 pts on all attributes everytime you use it. When the bonewalker attacks you, just use your ring when he's finished, and you're prefect again.

Here's a question for other people? Why do I have to take off anything that ajusts my attributes before restoring. For example, my strength is 144 (100 base, +20 from that glove, +12 from both a shirt and some pants). I get hit by a bonewalker, my strength is down to 120. I restore, but nothing happens. I have ot remove those 3 articles of clothing, THEN restore for my stats to be normal again. Does this happen to anyone else?

restore spell only restores you attribute up to it's BASE, not up to what it is with all the attribute enhancers that you have. So for your example it goes like this, your base strength is 100 and 144 with items, you get drained down to 120, but 120 is higher then your base so therefore restore won't do you any good till you take off your item (and your strength drops to below 100).

@Cooguyclay:

I've noticed this with constant effect items powering stat increases and savegames...probably a bug. At least we know how we can get around it though...most likely going to be part of the new, or subsequent patch(s).
