Constant Effect Speed or Jump?

Post by Crosswind »

I am making the leaping lizard.

He is an Argonian monk, with 100 speed, 100 acrobatics, and eventually 100 athletics. For what it's worth, he uses spears.

Now, I want all my gear to make me jump high and far!

What is best for this? Should I make my exquisite rings/ammies/robes/pants/gloves/shirts all boost speed? or have constant effect jump for as much as I can do?

make a spell or item that will boost jump by 100, activate on use....

point cursor to 45% above horizon, then activate spell, 5 or 3 second duration will keep it around 50 mana points, then press the foward button and press jump....

you just jumped from balmora to peligiad!!!!

no bull, a 100 acrobat with good high str, mine was around 200 with corpus, can literally jump from one town to another...

but for tactical jumping, i think a constant effect ring with 25 jump, exquiste rings will hold that much fortify attribute, not sure if jump is expensive like a constant effect restorre or cheaper like a constant effect fortify, but you should be able to get around 8 to 25 or so, and if you do get 25, heck, you can jump from buckmoth fort to ah-harun...

yes, jump is a viable and a very FAST replacement for constant effect levitation...you still want rings of both for tactics, but seriously, jumping is fast, fun, and a total rush...

you wont get the killer distance until you get corpus, but seriously, with a spell 100 jump, for 3 seconds, and a restore magicka amulet, i was ablt to cross vvardenfell east to west in 14 jumps...

be careful, tho...keep a constant effect lev ring at all times, and dotn jump in mountains...

oooffff....ouch!!!

and near the coast, unless you have water walking...

thats actually cool, you can jump while water walking...

Damned if I know why, but jump is as expensive as levitate when it comes to constant enchanting. You'll get 8 points on an exquisite ring or amulet, 15 on a daedric tower shield.

Still, 8 points of jump is plenty. Let's you jump over hills, rises and most buildings.

But, seeing as I don't exploit the corprus bug, and so will have 100 strength...

Should I go for constant effect fortify Str? Or Constant Effect Jump? Which will send me the farthest/highest?

Has anybody number crunched the relative effect of stats/skills when performing a skill?

Just FYI, not a bug. It's a feature. Part of the plot is that you keep all the positives of corpus, just loose the negatives -- thus fulfilling one of the prophecies. Keeping your enhanced strength is deliberate, as is keeping complete immunity to disease.

That being said, I've heard that if you need to restore strength/endurance later, they drop to initial levels. Is this true? Makes me think it might be a bug (at least for me--don't want anything I may not keep)...

Only one of my characters has actually bothered with the main quest (I prefer to do back path routes, and there are two of them in Morrowind), but he has never lost the bonus strength and end points. And he finished the game, so I think if he were going to, he would have.

Very well, there are those of us who still think it's -really freaking cheesy- and will not abuse such an obviously imbalancing "feature".

well, even if you dont use corpus to enhance jump ability, a temp 100 jump will give you alternate means of FAST transportation that beats lev all hollow....

using multiple items and activating them in sequence should allow you to jump across morrowind in 1 jump.....really boost it, and you can jump around the game world...

since the map wraps around, say use 20 items to boost spell, and jump and land on the same place you started with....

Yeah, but as I said, I'm going for constant effect. And I'm wondering if my CONSTANT JUMP DISTANCE would be best affected by me using strength boost or jump boost constant effect items.

I made a spell for travel, inspired by one of the vampire forces that cam with a mod.
It boosts speed acrobatics and athletics 100 points for 5 mins.
I dont feel bad using it coz it dont gives me a real advantage, there is no creature I have to run from left in the game ( im lvl 68 now ).
But its sooooooo damn funny, first time I played with it I endet up jumping for 3 hours thru vadrenfell.
I dont use teleports or ships any more, jumping around is much more fun.
It adds a complete new feeling to the game, try it :D

For those who are intrestet and dont know how to do it or simply have no time, drop me a line and I send you the plugin.

I agree with Jodmos, enchanting a constant Acrobatics skill effect seems to boost jump quite well...although it's easy to make a killer 100-jump spell that lasts for 3 secs (50 magicka/cast) if you really wanna cheese it :)

Dunno...My old char's gone the way of the dodo (extinct now I've got the new HD), but I remember having +skill boost spells/effects in both the spellmaker and the enchanting screen. It's possible I pulled 'em from a mod I had installed, but I don't think so *shrug*.

As for hacking a spell, well it would be easy enough to do, but I don't think you need to. AFAIK, the only effect that's not provided in-game is a 'magicka recharge' spell...and by the time you really want it, you've probably lost the need for it.

I've found that 75+ acrobatics and str is usually plenty to get up to where I need to go in a town (on rooftops, etc.) and if I need a blatantly powerful jump, it's kinda pointless to try to get it in a constant effect item. A low-power Levitation ring works great for getting to hard-to-reach places and doesn't unbalance the game a bit.

From what I've heard (mostly thanks to cjdevito and UserUnfriendly), completing the Morag Tong sanguine quests before becoming grandmaster will net you a spell that allows fortifying skills (and attack).

So far as I know, the only legitimate way to get either Fortify Skill or Fortify attack as a spell is (spoiler):

to do all the sanguine quests (every last item) for the Morag Tong

That must be where I got it then since I didn't get the spell effect until I really didn't need it anymore.

Ah well, I can look forward to doing it all again :)

I made this spell with the editor, not ingame folks.
I thought my posting made that clear.
You cant create this spell ingame, or maybe you can, but you will never never never get the mana to cast it.
Fort. skill spells are the most mana expensive spells out there.

Once you get it, though, you can enchant items with it. And you can stack those effects :)

CJ and User are indeed the demigods of figuring out how to do wierd stuff with Morrowind.

As for being able to jump high, it's a style issue! =)

And lastly, the original question remains unanswered. In terms of sheer height and distance, what will affect your jump most per exquisite ring?

Acrobatics skill increase?
Strength Increase?
Speed Increase?
Jump Spell?
