How can I advance to captain?? Sugar-Lips and the other leaders tell me that I have to practice my skills, but what's the requirements??

Read the book that discusses the thief guild and what it expects of its recruits. That will give you a very good roleplaying sense of what skills the guild values, and expect you to raise. Typically, your character is expected to hit a certain level in only one of any of the guild's prized skills, but as you rise in rank, that level increases by ten each time.

If you need something less of a hint and more a plain statement, ask. But I'd really suggest trying this, first.

All you need to do is look at your character stats, scroll down to the faction section, and move your mouse over the thief's guild listing. You'll be told what the guild skills are, what levels in them you need, etc.
