Stealing from Galbedir

Post by Kameleon »

Well, I'm basically a complete n00b at this game, I'm doing some quests for the mages guild. I got the mushrooms and was asked by Akira (sp? I can never remember their bloody names) to swap a soul gem in Galbedir's desk for a fake one. While he was gone, letting me do this dastardly deed, I decided to nick all the soul gems on his desk, including a Grand one. Now I've done this, will there be any consequences? Noone seems to care as yet...

Also, can anyone advise me what to do with the 10 Moon Sugars and the 2 Skoomas I've picked up? Should I keep them or try and sell them? Who'll buy them? Do I have to just keep dropping them every time I want to use anyone's services?

Heh, I did that same quest at 3am BST last night. ;)
Except, I didn't take Galbedir's stuff.
(There's lots of very expensive stuff which can be stolen and sold/swapped ... kinda takes the challenge away a bit IMO.)
So, I dunno about consequences, but you're probably OK I'd guess.

As for Skooma and Moon Sugar, most Khajiit buy it.
Near the Balmora Mage Guild you've got Ra'Vir (sp?) the trader who's just next door, and in the Guild, you've got Ajira (who gave you the fake soul gem) herself!

BTW, doing this quest i already was on very good terms with Glabedir (100 or very near). So, when i was returning from placing the fake gem we met on the stair between the basement and the ground floor. We had a little chat here, i left, she stayed. Well, she's still here, if i'd like i might clean all she has left on the first floor.

There is only a consequence if you try to sell them to her, she knows they are hers ;) Same with the Cammona Tong and their Cyrodillac Brandy

I know about this, I tried enchanting something with one of her gems with her :D Needless to say, it wasn't pretty :o I also have noticed that no shopkeepers want to buy the things either. Is this because they are stolen, or will vendors happily buy other people's stolen goods?

I'm pretty sure that the Trader, Outfitter and Pawnbroker in Balmora (don't remember the names) buy soul gems even stolen ones. I sold a few of Galbedir's gems to them cause i needed the cash ASAP. :)

Anyone will buy a stolen item, as long as it is an item they are interested in. Also, if you steal, for example, a soul gem from Galbedir, you can NEVER sell her an identical soul gem again, even if it is not one of hers.

The only reason people won't[/u] buy off you is if you have illegal items like Skooma and Moon Sugar. Some merchants wont accept certain things, it is however a fairly logical system, an armorer would have no use for spells so he doesn't buy them.

The AI can't differentiate the difference between their items and someone else's, so any item of the same description, say the soul gem (rat), if you were to find another, she would think it were her own, and thereby attack you.

Same goes for the various shops. Steal and herb from a shopkeeper, you better be careful not to ever try to sell that herb back to them again.

Ah, that makes more sense...I was thinking that I would never be able to sell another, for example, Greater Soul Gem, no matter what soul was trapped in it or even a clean one  Thanks :)
