"song of the south" was banned by the motion picture association of america for various stereo typing of african american culture. I doubt it will ever be released or even shown outside of the archives.
yeah, I know brier rabbit was a archetypical figure of black culture back in the south during the sharecropper days. See Jung for explaination of archetypes.

Interestingly enough, the collection of stories that featured Brer Rabbit was created by a white Southener, writing under a pseudonym. In any case, these anthropomorphic fables are pretty common in many cultures, from Aesop to Renard the Fox.Originally posted by UserUnfriendly:

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
"Anthropomorphic" is where individuals represent an entire group of people, I believe. Not sure if this can be said of Reynard the Fox...

Definitely an animal story! A fuzzy little skunk, IIRC.Originally posted by Mr Sleep:

BTW, I did manage to get a Brittish copy of Song of the South that I need to get converted from PAL to NTSC. I haven't tried real hard, yet, but I'm happy just to have it -- I know it won't be lost for good.
