Romance & Alignment

Post by JoeL »

I have a question regarding the influence of th PC´s alignment on the possible romances. Specifically, I have a chaotic good elven thief/mage and I wanted him to romance Viconia. Unfortunately, she doesn´t even talk to me. On the other hand, both Jaheira and Aerie, both in my party, are flirting with me ! So, does my good alignment keep the Viconia romance from happening ?

Alignment have nothing to do with romance; like craig said, it's because of your race, Viconia does not romance Elves.

But she will romance Half-Orcs... There's a lady that doesn't go for just a pretty face!

Xyx, are you sure? I mean, I think I read somewhere that Vic digs half-Orcs only after you install some cheat...

So, what races does she dig ? And are there any reasons she doesn´t like elves ?

Drow usually hate regular surface elves.

As a matter of fact drow were "regular surface" elves once, but...

You can even find a book in SoA named "History of the Drow", as follows:

"History of the Drow, The Descent:

We know very little of the Ilythiiri, or "Elves of the South," before this crucial event. Even then they were known as "Dark Elves," for the hue of their skins. They dwelt in the jungles and hot forests of the South. A proud, warlike, culturally advanced (some sages of other elven peoples say "decadent") folk, the Ilythiiri attacked all neighbors, including other elven tribes. Their cruel raids and depredations, ordered by warlike nobility and the clergy of their two cruel deities, Ghaunadaur and Lolth, forced elves, humans, dwarves, and others to ally against them.

Defeated in a series of titanic magical battles, the dark elves fled into underground warrens they had earlier discovered. This event, known as "the Descent," marked the end of the drow as a surface-dwelling race. "

For your other doubt, IIRC, Viccy romances humans, half-elves (?) and half-orcs(with patch)

Aerie and Jaheira romance elves, half-elves and humans.
Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

Yup Leoric is right, though, the game is kinda weird. I mean, in real life (not real life since none of this is real life ^^; But real life AD+D stuff), the drow were cast off by the good and neutral elven people combined. Not humans or dwarves. Wonder why they would change that among other things in the game history o.O
