Problems running NWN with my graphic card - need help

Post by NeoCount »

I've bought NWN today, but my aging Voodoo 3 doesn't support the game. What graphic card should I buy? Something like 100-120 US $.

Please help me - I have the game but can't play it!!!

We've had some discussion about video cards over on the Tech Support forum. Try this thread for some advice.

EDIT: Do you have an AGP slot on your motherboard or just PCI slots? Most of the new cards do not come in the PCI bus anymore, so you may need to replace your motherboard as well.

Absolutely! As long as it runs Direct 3D or Open GL (which it does :) ) then it will run! :)

Good luck with the game!

Thanks Nippy

You've helped a lot, since I'm a bit short of funds ;)

Just make sure that you download the latest drivers from ATI.

The good people here say that the game will work with Radeon 7000 (+install the latest driver).
If you'll wait a few days (untill I get my Radeon 7000) - I'll post another reply and tell you how it works.

I would get a Geforce 3 ti 200 - they are getting quite cheap now. I looked on Newegg.com right now and saw a Gainward GF3ti200 for $113.00. Gainward and Leadtek are well-reputed makers of Geforce cards.

I don't buy ATI cards personally, I know they are good cards but it seems like the driver support is always iffy, it seems like every game that comes out has issues with ATI. Nvidia drivers for Geforce cards OTOH always seem great.

edit: I got my copy of the game yesterday - I am playing it quite acceptably so far on a geforce3ti200, in 1600x1200 with details maxxed out.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....
