That I will not be joining you people in playing NWN. Too many bugs, issues and game freezes have convinced me that this game is not worth my time, my money, or my effort, nor is Bioware. Until now, I had beena firm supporter of Bioware's products, knowing them to be pretty much bug free and reliable. This has only change my opinion on the company. The fact they allowed Infogrames (or whatever compnay) to bully them into saying it's ready onyl tells me that they are out there for the same purpose as every other company, and that is to make money.

I haven't run into any probems yet, and I'm sorry that you have. :( Would you try again if they release a patch?
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

Bioware has made many bug-free games. Don't you think we should give them a chance (may be wait for a fixing-patch)??? I think we owe them that after they have made several good (excellent) games.
They could have been mistaken in thinking the game was ready. Now they see it was not. Give them the time to fix it. Don't forget that the best programmers have worked 4 years 24/7 on this game to give US a new kind of experience.

You could say that I am naive in thinking it is not all about the money (and may be you are right :( ;) ), but think they should get a second chance.

There are so many options in this game. I think it is normal it is bugged.

Well, I could go on for hours, but I won't (don't worry, I really won't :D ), but the point is: Don't judge them too fast :o

Granted, they are a good company, but the fact that they released something that doesn't work on computers that should be capable of running them is a bit of a pain. When you buy a car, you expect it to work, no questions asked. Granted, it may have problems or bugs with it, but it should work. I expect the same with a game. The fact that I can't even run the game, though my computer has more then enough power to do so is slightly miffing. I gave them four days, and 90 of my dollars for a product that doesn't work. Now thats a damne xpensive coaster.

In that case then Aegis, Bioware have already released a patch within two days of release. With your 30% of people unable to play stat, surely Bioware will pay attention and fix it.

Secondly, consider us Europeans. We don't get it for another 6 days, we won't find out if it will work on our systems or not at that time. Is that fair?

Dont give up on them so soon... when it is released in the rest of the world, the community will become much bigger and fixes will start flowing (both official and unofficial)

Your patiance will be rewarded if you bear with them for a little while longer :)

Craig: pls restrain yourself from posting like that :)

No need for such letters and no need for a post simply stating:
No

Okay? :)

Was it really Bioware that decided to release the game? Because usually the descision to release the game in such a state is because of the publisher, in this case Infograms. Whose descision was it?

I am starting to sound like a broken record - but I am having so much fun with this game that I need to add my 2 cents.

I have over 20 flawless no problem hours in with this game. I repeat - It has not crashed, failed to load, or frozen even once. The reports of problems with the game have come from people with varied hardware configurations - no one card, type of memory, or operating system has been identified as the culprit. This would seem to indicate that software is the issue.

I spent a few years as a repair tech for a major computer company and saw my fair share of "this software won't work on my machine" problems. 99% of the time the cure was a painful - but necessary step. Reload the system. Plain and simple Windows system files get messed up over time with each install and uninstall of new software, download of new programs, drivers and patches. This is not OS10 people - its Windows. I am a big gamer (surprise I know) and have 10-12 games installed on my hard drive at any given time. I do a full reload of my system at least 3 times a year - because the constant loading of new software eventually degrades Windows stability.

Wait a week for the Bioware troubleshooting to rule out known hardware issues. If that doesn't solve your problem - back up your files, get out your Windows cd, and format c: - your computer may need an oil change. ;)

@Aegis: I am sorry to hear this. :( I think you should take smass' advice, and hold out a bit on this decision.

As for me: I doubt my computer will run this game. I know, however, that I will be upgrading my PC (maybe around Christmas time), and then joining in the fun.

Until then, @ALL: Good adventuring!! And I will see you in Argyle! :)

Aegis , please post your hardware configuration(detailed) . I think your problems with game are mostly linked with hardware. Include your operating system aswell .

Let's give you a system check. :)

Alright, though I already have retunred the game (A total of 700 other copies had been retunred to the same store in those four days  ), but I will post my system.

Dell Dimension 4200
ATI Radeon 64 DDR
Intel P4 1.8 Ghz
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
256 DDR Ram
20 Gig hard drive

Need anything a little more specifc to tellme it should work?

What kind of error are you getting? (details)

Do you have the latest catalyst drivers from ati?

Are you using 32-bit colors on your desktop?

In the worst case scenario you will most likely need to buy a new graph card (yes, i know it sucks :( )... also you shouldnt rule out the possibility that it is your sound card.

Yeah, I tried the new Drivers (both Santa Cruz, and Catalyst for Radeon), was running 32 bit, and there was no error being given, it would merely freeze. the sound would still run, and I could move the cursor, but nothing more than that. I was forced to restart the computer everytime I tried.
