how do you alchemify???and where is secret master alchemy gear???

Post by UserUnfriendly »

ok, you all know i love enchanting, and have answered question by others on enchanting..but i dont know squat about alchemy...just finsished up a hard thief guild quest, which took me near uslaku camp, so i ripped off 2 sets of grandmanster alchemy gear from the secret master of alchemy, and got skills up to 100...how do you brew your own potions???

do you just equipp the tools???

are the tools used up after so many uses, like lockpicks???

also, where is the secret master alchemy stuff??? i plan to make some really potent brews like, a potion of icarian flight, and super jump potions, so i will need the secret master alchemy stuff, and i dont want to console it in, i want to quest for them....

what exactly do you mean by 'secret master alchemy stuff? i honestly don't know what you're talking about :)
there are four pieces of alchemy gear - mortar and pestel, calcinator, alembic and retort. a master's set can easily be 'borrowed' in the caldera mage's guild and you can find individual grandmaster's pieces here and there. only the mortar and pestel is required to make potions, the other pieces only add to the quality and duration of potions.
to brew a potion, just equip any of the pieces and the brewing interface will show up, just like when enchanting. there are four slots you can click on and choose ingredients for the potion. to be able to make a potion you will need to choose two different ingredients that have a common effect. you can further add other ingredients that share another effect with any of the already chosen ones to make potions with several effects. when you've selected all the desired ingredients just click 'brew potion'. since you already got a 100 in alchemy, there's no chance of it failling. that's all there is to it...

p.s. try doing a search for previous alchemy posts to find a complete table of possible combinations of ingredients and the resulting potions...

p.s.s. for your future games - alchemy is the easiest skill to train without having to pay a trainer for it. there are alchemist/apotecharies that sell unlimited suplies of certain ingredients, you only need to buy a big enoug supply and just make a ton of potions.

best of all, you can sell your mistakes to the local alchemy shop...of course, if anybody in balmora offers you a potion or heck , even a free drink you have to taste it very carefully...

yeah, i figured out how to alchemify, brewed my first potion today...

yes, you can get a complete set of grandmaster gear, actually 2.5 sets!!! in the secret master of alchemy popylon chamber....i stole one set and bought another

but tes says there are SECRET MASTER sets around!!!

i have 2 sets of mortar and pestal amblic calcinifire and retorts, however the secret master sets should allow me to brew some terrifically over powering potions...like a super fast levitate......

2 ingrediants on grandmaser set got me 24 points of lev for 60 or so seconds, imagine what 4 ingrediants on a secret master set should do !!!

there's an easier way to get WAAAAAAAAY overpowered potions (hint: the power of the potion is dependant on your intelligence).

Only in the editor. They don't exist in-game, and so far as I know there's no way to get them short of console commands.

yeah, frudi, i know...you boost int and wham, you are set....

by the way, the patch nerfed mephala skill spell!!!!

if you had the patience and the stamina to go thru the entire sanguine quest, applause, you get this nifty spell that boosts shortblade, and incidentally allows you to use spell maker and itemmaker to create items with fortify SKILLS...

but the patch nerfed it, and so you can only boost attributes to get better potions...

i think i console in a set of secret masters to see how badly i can boost int to create a 500 or so point int potion...and use it to make a bunch of really cool potions, like a 400 point jump and 300 point lev and see if its possible to use fortify int potions to regen mana...an experiment...

so the game does not place the secret master lockpick, or probe, either???

IMHO

its unfair they do not give access to boost skill spells - even more as there are items in the game doing such things (i have two enchantment skill boosters by now - 7+5, for example).

" player->addspell"fortify short blade skill" "

ok, so i managed to create, ready kiddies????

using 10!!!!

100 point boost alchemy skill, i created a potion that fortified int to 900 for 3000 seconds.....

with secret master gear, and a temp boost via a booster fortify potion i would make with 2 ingrediants fortify int...i kept forgetting unlike fortify magica, you have to drink a restore magic potion to acually use those charges...

but you can create potions of uber magic fortification, so i fortunately ended up rebuilding my spell table....

i got tired of fps creep when i was in inventory screen, figured its due to number of inventory items i got, and spell sceen number of spells, so i am in the process of streamlizing and making non arcane all the spells in my table.....can you say "beep" retentive....

ok, this is how i get fun out of games, if i manage to build a hyper character, and i have, i like to organize tables and inventories until things work right....my posts in the bg 2 forum under sorc spell tables are frightning....

anyway, enchantment, alchemy and spell maker, used effectively, can create some frightning gear...

i am thinking of trying to enchant some stuff using boosted enchant skill....

could i possibly exceed the effectiveness of guild enchanters??

thinking of a ten boost to enchatnskill....my gosh, the boost to skill rather than attribute increses effectiveness by 5 times!!!!

a 100 boost skill is five times better, or so than a 100 boost to int...so while you can boost up to same obcene levels, its more fun with boost skill

:D

BTW,

if you wander a bit through Telvani settlements you can collect (buy or steal) full grandmaster set (even a couple or more). (Have never seen it on the board, so i believe it might be of some interest to somebody.)

grandmaster sets can be bought from secret master of alchemy, and if you kill her after training, you get a second set...

or just rob her blind, she was so easy to steal from....

oh yeah, the secret master of longblade had a daedric claymore, and the secret master of blunt an ebony staff...

any guesses as to what secret masters of marksmanship and axe have???

i know, its evil to rob someone after tehy teach you....I am so proud of myself!!!

i have a supply of potions that boost int by 3000 for something like 2.5 hours :) . i use them when i want to enchant powerfull items. with 3000 int i almost never fail enchanting exquisit rings/amulets with my enchant skill only at around 50.
you do need over 100k int to make these potions though :) .
