um do u sell gems or are they used for something?

Some are useful, most are just quick cash.

If you check on this sight, you'll find a list of goodies you can use to ugrade weapons and items and such.

Umm..there's not a list of jewels, but you can use the drpo-down on the left to go to the BG2 area, then click the link entitled "Cromwell's Forge" to find upgrades. You'll also want to hold on to one Rogue Stone to access a tough side quest. I won't spoil anymore than that.

If you have ToB, it tells you to keep certain gems, mentioned in the rulebook. For SoA,

keep: beljuril, diamond, rogue stone and possibly star sapphire (not certain though)
