Daedric Katana Location *spoiler*

Post by Applebrown »

Allright, I'm now level 18 (going up really fast just by playing normally) and up to this point have been wondering just where the almighty Ebony & Daedric armor and weapon items are. Just by exploring off the beaten path, ancestral tombs and dungeons, I've acquired two Ebony weapons and finally, a Deadric Katana... the most powerful 1-handed sword. WOOHOO :)

It was totally by chance. If you don't want to read further, I'll let you know that so far on my quests in various factions, I haven't stumbled upon any of the uber weapons/armor. If you need to travel by foot, and you're level 5 or above, take shortcuts off the main road and begin to adventure into those ancestral tombs, caves and smuggler's pits. You'll find that most are very well worth it, either for the fighting experience or better, cool stuff.

Here's the spoiler. I do not know where the other Daedric Weapons are yet... although I do know where a Daedric Battle Axe is from the beta.

1. You'll want to be at least level 10 to do this, as you have to fight Daedra and pretty powerful spellcasters. Or else bring a ton of restore health/magicka potions with you. Also, bring a couple "potions of rising force" with you... for the Levitate spell. You'll need it. Also, make sure you can open chests above lock 35.

2. Travel to Molag Mar using the Silt Strider.

3. Head north-north west from Molag Mar, heading over the mountains on any good path, until you reach Mount Kand (not too far a hike). This location was on my map, and if it's not on yours, check your fold out map.

4. Look for two dungeon entrances nearby one another. One is Mt. Kand Cavern, and the other is the one you want. Simply called "Assu". You'll know you're there because there's a broken tree stump and some small foliage nearby the entrance. It's pretty much right at the top of Mt. Kand.

5. Enter Assu, clear out the Daedra, the spellcaster, and Atronarch in the water at the very end of the dungeon, and then you'll need one of your Levitate potions to make it up to the area above the water where another spellcaster lives (one who summons).

6. Destroy the unfriendly person for some nice stuff, and then go to the edge of the ridge above the water in that NPC's abode and look across the cavern. You'll see an alcove with a couple chests. There is no bridge so once again, use your levitate potion and float on over.

7. Unlock and you'll find your Daedric weapon inside. I don't know if it's random but it could be. I got the Katana right away but your mileage may possibly vary. Happy Trails!

It is random :( I got an Ebony Broadsword not what i was after but still a good find, not as good as the staff the summoner had on her that was worth 210,000 septims :D

Didn`t really look like it was worth it though..
We must bear these vicissitudes with patience and equanimity.

I looked in the editor and confirmed that it is random. It will provide one "excellent" class weapon. If you save, and reload if you don't get what you want, it'll be different every time. I've since found MANY daedric weapons, but only one other one so far off an NPC. Most are off of the high level Daedra.

**another spoiler warning for probably a NOT Random Daedric Longsword**

In Vivec, in the St. Ohm's underworks (where you find one of the main quest NPC's), there's a shrine. Guarding the shrine is a level 19 NPC woman. She didn't attack me as I was about the same level as her, but I had my trusty Daedric Katana so it wouldn't have been a tough match. However, going inside you'll find a few tougher NPCs. Make sure you can handle them, and off one you'll get his Daedric Longsword. It looks way better than the Katana but the stats aren't as good, and it's not as fast (a look in the editor gave me that info). Yet it's almost as good. Some good stuff in that shrine.

I got the Daedric longsword there too, so I suppose it's not random. I also got a Daedric one-handed axe by stealing stuff off the offering plate and killing the summoned Daedra (although I'm pretty sure that this weapon was random.) It's worth stealing offerings though, for a chance to get some good weapons.

you can get a daedric katana, claymore, shield and greaves, possibly even a dai-katana, and also an ebony cuirass at the dren plantation. you have to 'convince' the previous owners of the specific items to give them up first though :)

Great weapons but where can you sell them?

I've found lots of great loot, including the full set of ebony armour and daedric axe from the Dunmer in the daedric shrine between Ald Velothi & Khuul. However, nobody seems to have any money to buy this stuff off me. I also have several full sets of Orcish armour stashed away but I can't sell any of it. That goes too for the Ring of Surroundings given to me by Larrius Varro. Any ideas?

For what, selling it? Why bother? You already presumably have a character that rocks, plus some of the best armor and weapons in the game. If that's the case, what do you need 1,000,000 drakes for? ;) Just go out and kill stuff. :D
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
