Imprisonment help needed

Post by ocularus »

Jaheira has been imprisoned during my battle in the twisted rune. I have cast freedom spells over every square inch of the area but she does not rematerialize. Do I need to use SK here or is there another way that I have missed?

I have also discovered that when I return to the elven camp to return the Lanthorn I retrieved from Bhodi's lair I am being attacked by a group of harpers. If I defend myself and kill any of them Ethan's group turns red also and attacks me. These harpers have been dogging me and Jaheira for ever since I helped her kill off the renegade harper (i forget his name) at the harper stronghold. I don't understand why they are attacking me especially since Jaheira isn't in my group any more.

Still adding more info here....I was attacked by this group of harpers when we exited from the underdark. I tried many reloadings hoping the scene would play differently but was unsucessful. The harpers attack us because Jaheira sided with me and they accused her of being a traitor. We managed to get past without major injury and exit the elven camp. Who would think they would hang around there for so long (it's been many days),,,,so back to real question...why would they still attack us now because Jaheira is no longer in my group? Okay enough of me....let's hear some ideas here from you kind folks :) Thanks

I'm not sure I'm understandin....
The twisted rune (AFAIK) has no one that casts Imprisonment!
I would say, if you've seen her disappear, that she's been crushed to death by massive damage, with no chance of resurrection.
Do you have a previous save?

Yes I do. I've already started, have to replay the last 30+ days but it will give me a chance to some things differently. So no imprisonment spells in the twisted rune huh? I assumed it was imprisonment as there was no trace of her, no inventory items or body...nothing at all, totally wiped. What could kill one of my characters and not leave a trace? And that battle took me a long time to win too.

I doesn't matter if Jaheira is any longer in your party after you've killed that Harper boss. Remember, this guy tried to prove you're quite dangerous. His fellow harpers probably believe him since his death seems to show he was right. The harpers won't let ger you away with killing one of their leaders.

Several things could have made Jaheira disappear from your party. If her hit points dropped below -10, then she was effectively blown apart into chunks. Shangalar, the female mage, and the beholder could have cast Disintegrate. If the beholder (Vaxall?) was an Elder Orb, he might have cast Imprisonment (Elder Orbs can do that). Or she might have been petrified (although you would see a "statue" of her). I'm not sure about being level-drained to death by a vampire, but that's also a possibility.

Being level drained to death quite often results in a chunky exit from the game :(

it's a common problem, if you killed the harpers in their hold that they come for retribution after you emerge from underdark, due to the fact they are supposed to appear after a certain amount of days, but since you're in underdark, they don't appear in there, so right after you emerge, bingo...

you can actually avoid the harper attack for good, by telling jaheira strictly not to say anything about the PC's heritage, that way they don't attack and you can continue by your business...

@ocularus: have you installed the solaufein NPC patch, since there is an improved twisted rune upgrade also, haven't been there in my recent game with the improvements, but if you have casted freedom in the area, it can't be imprisonment, my advice is that if you lose a party member you check the combat info->scroll up...

Thanks for all the help. I will tell jaheira to keep silent about my heritage. I am going to head back over to small teeth pass and see if we meet up with Dermin (I didn't do that last time).

What is this CTRL+y Dr. Slikk mentioned? Not familar with that.

I do not have the solaufein mod installed. I have the "official" SOA patch and the SOA patch from balderdash. BTW I got TOB but have not yet installed it. I wanted to finish this game first and then install TOB. Is there a link or previous post as to what order the program(s), patches, and mods are installed?

Thanks again all. :D

Ocularus, Ctrl-Y is a way to cheat. If you put your mouse over a character (not just an enemy--ANY character, even your own) and press the Ctrl key and the Y key, the character will suffer massive amounts of damage and probably die unless something in the game prevents it. (For example, some NPCs are invincible, sometimes only temporarily, so that you won't mess up your game by killing them, and creatures such as trolls must be hit with special damage such as fire or acid when they're reduced to 0 hit points.) IMO, Ctrl-Y is a loser's way out, but I can see how it could be helpful if you're trying to "debug" the game. :)

I'd also like to mention that you can play Shadows of Amn even if you install Throne of Bhaal. Throne of Bhaal is an expansion. When you play Shadows of Amn with the expansion installed, there are new items, new abilities, new spells, and a higher XP cap. Personally, I think it's great to play Shadows of Amn with the expansion installed. Throne of Bhaal also adds Watcher's Keep to the game, and you can go there (like any other side-quest) while you're playing Shadows of Amn. When you finish Shadows of Amn, your Final Save is automatically imported into Throne of Bhaal, which at that point can be treated as completely separate game. If you didn't go to Watcher's Keep while you were playing Shadows of Amn, you can go there when you play Throne of Bhaal, but all of the other areas in Shadows of Amn are inaccessible.

I'm sorry, I can't tell you in which order the expansions and the MODs should be installed. Hopefully, most of them are not incompatible with each other.
