Brazil Or Germany?

Post by Obsidian »

World Cup soccer finals. This is probably discussed in the world cup thread, but I don't feel like sorting through 721 pages of stuff to get thoughts on the final, so here it is.

I think Germany will take it 1-0.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

You could have just looked at the last few pages of that thread for thoughts.

I shall give u the scoreline anyway, calculated from all my astrological research in the last few weeks:

Germany 2 - 3 Brazil

btw, if you check the WC thread, you'll find that I gave this prediction before the Quarter-Finals, suggestin' that I've been right so far!
Check it out! One of my earliest, and certainly, more creative threads! :)

I think and hope Brazil will take it, because they are a much more entertaining team to watch. Except that Rivaldo... hope he gets a red card for all his dives. ;)

I REALLY hope Brazil, I'm a bit against Germany for personal reasons (school ended yesterday and I'm stuck there for a half week reading a German book, AAARGHHHH  ).

Well, Brazil is a fun team to watch. The Brazil-Turkey game was one of the best in the tournament, IMHO.

@Gaxx I know but Germany is incredibly dull and I believe that they can even stifle this match.

Brazil has some genius players, Germany has not (except Oliver Kahn). On the other hand, Germany will come up with physically strong play and they have a slight psychological advantage, because no one here expects them to win in such a forceful manner as the people in Brazil do expect it from their team. And the german team has many players (8 out of 11 I think) who have gathered experience in playing tournament finals during the last years.

Therefore my opinion is:

If Germany manages to score the first goal, they will win.
If Brazils manages to break the german defense systematically, Brazil will win.
If there should be a golden goal, Brazil will score it.
If it comes down to penalty shootout, Germany will win.

I am mirroring you exactly: Think Germany - hope Brazil :)

My prediction: 2-1 to Germany! :D

I love Brazilian football. Everybody loves Brazilian football. Their technical skills, the flamboyance, the beauty...When Brazil wins the World Cup, most people feel it's a success for football as a sport.

Some journalists in Sweden have called this match a meeting between the contructive and destructive, and some fears Germany will play for 0-0 and penalties.

I really hope Germany will not. I do not think they will. They have the world's best goalkeeper and a very good defensive - they have only let in 1 single goal in the entire tournament so far. Of course they will and should use their defensive skills, but Germany can score goals too. They probably have the best headplayers in the tournament - the power of their arial offensive in the penalty area is outstanding
Perhaps Germany is boring to watch in some respects, but their moral, organization and ability to play as a team are worth both respect and admiration.

Isn't it funny how two of the most critisised and ridiculed teams made it to the final? Both the coaches, Scolari and Voller, have been very close to loosing their jobs. Nobody seems to like Rivaldo, neither in Barca nor Brazil. Ronaldo...you know the story. Oliver Kahn used to be called the gorilla, people thew bananas at him at the field. Beckenbauer said that if the German team was put in a bag and kicked at, anyone who was hit would deserve it.
Seems like many people will get some restitution here. :D

Well, it was a good game... (I'll wait for someone that knows how to do black lettering to post the score, so not to spoil it).

Gaxx, we have already started spoiling in the World Cup 2002 thread. :D To write in black, just type [*color=black]put the text here and end with [*/color] without the asterisks (*).

Brasil 2 - 0 Germany
Uhm...should I have black lettered the results instead of the countries? Bah, same thing.
btw, this is the first 2-0 scoreline ever in a final...and Cafu has made history by bein' the only person to play in 3 WC finals!
