They may be benign compared to many other creatures in the game, but I can't STAND mephits! They are so annoying!

They might be annoyed but not lethal! Just my thought.

Cheers

Ok, so I got a lvl 40 monk, capable of taking almost anything but dragons down by himself. What really pissed me off was the demi-lich, or was it just lich?, in ToB, think it was in WK.
I had to slayer change in the room it was in, (because you change back to human by entering another room while being slayer, anyway, I did) leaving me merely 1 second to do it before I got imprisoned (hate it!!). I think I tried bout 20 times before I succeded, leaving me pretty *frustrated*. ;)
Anyway, Elder Orbs and Mind Flayers would have to be my most hated.

I also had some probs with mr. Firkraag, but after sending 11 cloudkills in on him, while standing out of sight, he took more damage than he could heal. :D :p

Throw in a Cloudkill and then close the door. :D Or cast Death and watch them die right away.

I really really really hate those darn mindflayers.
I first ran into them in the Sewers of Athkatla right in the beginning and got C-R-U-S-H-E-D!

After hours of lvl 1 animal summoning I defeated them with my +1 arrows and +1 sword.

They also were a problem in the Underdark
I never found Adjatha the Drinker +2 or other mindshielding items so I had to summon a few animals, cast some cloudkills, and just wait for them to kill the animals, confuse my party and then kill me.

garazdawi,

After starting the Sola mod, I changed my mind on cheesy tactics. Any cheese one to beat Bodhi? And I haven't yet gone to the Asylum...

it depends on class and if you are soloing. a mage or sorc or cleric can easily beat mindflayers with summon

fighters and rangers and thief with UAI can use shield of balduran

dragons are really not that hard with good cheese (thank you UserUnfriendly) or a high level party

golems are WEAK with good weapons or spells

avoid umberhulks until later (you can just wait untill higher level)

@Scayde: Yeah, I'd have to say that the octopus heads (mind flayers) are my least favorite monster to face. Feel fortunate that the Flayers in BG2 aren't true to the Pen and Paper Mind Flayers of the D&D game...now those are bogus, being able to cast clerical spells in addition to shlorping the brain right out of your head. :D

P.S. - I also hate vampires. Anything that drains levels sucks big time. ;)

If you have the Shield of Balduran, beholders get easy. Cloak of Mirroring is a good backup. Just stand there and let them kill themselves.

If you have the Ring of Free Action, Boots of Speed and Shield of Harmony, Mind Flayers get easy. You're immune to psionics, so just run up, bash, then run off when you get hit and wait for the Int drain to fade.

Dragons... them's annoying because they have no weakness that you can exploit every time.
