imprisonment vs cloak of mirroring

Post by TheDude »

hi i have released the mage in the underdark with a freedom spell.
after he come's back he give's me a rod + some spells.
i heard he had some nice 9 lvl spells on him so after i made him hostile i attacked him to get those spells, here it come's:

my char has the cloak of mirroring equipped but it always happens that the mage casts imprisonment on my char and the game is over.
But u can clearly see that the cloak is mirroring the spell back to the mage but still the game is over HOW?????
my char isn't death or imprisoned but still i must start over.

I also had problem with killing this guy.
The sollution is to place you main carracter out of his visuall range and summon plenty of helpers. He will die eventually, but I found that hes gear wasn't really worth the effort.
I also heard that you can easially pickpocket everything of him anyway.

Or you can just cast insect plague on him Image Image Image

Btw,the cloak of mirroring does not protect against imprisonment, maze and IIRC stun spells

That's odd, whenever one of my party members (not the protaganist) is wearing it and gets hit by the imprisonment spell, he/she gets imprisoned, so that I have to cast freedom to get him/her back. (I hate Elder Orbs Image )

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Does spell turning help against imprisonment?

how about this;
I think you can be immune to imprisonment by using "spell immunity" and choosing abjuration. Since imprisonment is an abjuration spell it will not affect you, and you can wack him....

Well, people you should have read the description of that thing more carefully.

It says:

Special Abilities: Reflects all spell damage back to the source. This includes offensive spells like magic missile, but not disabling (non-damage) spells such as hold person.

RubberChick is correct. Spell Immunity: Abjuration protects against Imprisonment.

One way to make this particular battle very short is to let the elementals you're supposed to be protecting him from do a "little" damage, you know, until he's like, near death. Image

The easiest solution for this mage is just cast insect plague on him - then he is ready Image Image (You don't have druid in the party ? - too bad for you). It is good to have several pets in the same time (aerial servants and/or fire elementals).
So sayeh
