Improvements to the Game

Post by [-Mortician-] »

ok people, what do u want changed/improved for the next installation of BG? I personally would like a better variety of Kits to choose from, and the ability to customize that kit to your own preferences would be nice. (more on that later hehe) Secondly it would be nice to be able to edit your character's appearance more drastically. Body Type (fat/thin/muscled/weak) facial hair, type of hair (long, short, spikey, bald) and stuff like that. Sub races, similar to IWD2. (ie. Drow/Duergar/Moon elf/Gold elf) More race specific items (moonblades etc..) finally, a better selection of NPCs!!!!!!!!!!!!! there was not 1 thief NPC in BG2 that i enjoyed. (sorry, i hate gnomes hehe) anyway thats just the tip of the iceburg. If anyone has ideas, post em!

How about having a BG3, for a start? ;) I've heard no news indicating that any dev team is working on, or has interest in working on, another BG game. Would it was otherwise, but still...

Although it proves nothing, a specific part of the deal that sent NWN to Infogrames was that BIS got the rights to continue to make BG-universe games.

Less bugs, less loading time. That's about it. And more proofreading.

I wouldn't mind them if there was a great storyline and fantastic music like in BG2. :)

Next BG I and II changes

It would be nice to have the characters walk a littler faster, and loading time was faster too. I would like to have more interaction between my character and my group (NPC's). Make a whole new story, for pete's sake there are lots of branch off's for stories. I would have liked to seen more of Coran, he was a hoot. Legolas

Don't I wish they'd do something with it...! The next BIS game I'm aware of is Lionheart, which has nothing to do with the Baldur's Gate property. Although I think the team that designed PS:T could do justice to a sequel, more than half the people who were responsible for that are long gone from BIS.

This is rather minor compared to some of the posts, but I'd really love to see a quick weapon setup button that allows me to have a bow, two swords, and, oh, maybe a mace and shield, all equipped at the same time, and able to switch on the fly instead of having to raid the inventory screen.

I would realy just like to see another instalation to the coolest game ever...ive got all my friends addicted to it(and they parents hate me for it too???)but they all think the plot could have used so more work..the plot for bg1 was realy great and you werent always considered the goodguy...running from the po-lece after candlekeep was cool...i think that they needed to take more time writing the plot and make some weapons that tie in with the entire game!!!

If there was to be another BG game, what would its story be?? It would be pretty lame to continue ToB. It would be even more stupid to just create another Bhaalspawn (pretty unoriginal). Another IE game would be nice, just not following/continuing BG's story.

NWN seems to be the next for something like that sort of thing (if it ever works because i am buying a new computer)

also BG3 = son of the baalspawn?
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

I've red somewhere that the development team decided that the whole Bhaalspawn saga is over. Has anyone heard anything different? I'm not sure what the plot would look like, but I shure would like to see BG3.

I'd like to see another but it should be separate from baldur's gate in the way that icewind dale was. A completely separate plot line. I'd also like to see the whole thing happen in one fluid piece. ie. even if you took a character from bg1 to ToB your idea of the character could not match that well all the way through. Say I wanted to make a stealthy fighter type. One who hides in the shadows and quickly attacks opponents. In bg I think of a fighter/thief in bg2 I think of a stalker. Plus you have to relocate all your weapon proficiencies. It would be great if they perhaps expanded the icewind dale 2 engine and found a new location. I'd like to see more open areas like bg1 more exploration. I love starting at level one with like 5-10 hit points. Also lot's of little things like if when sarevok wielded the sword of chaos it gained special abilities or he did the deathbringer assualt more often.

I'd want the possibility to grab items from unconscious enemies...
Makes sense, doesn't it?

I'd like another game like Baldur's Gate 2. I'm enjoying the flexibility of the 3rd Ed. ruleset used in NWN more and more for each day, so these would be nice to see implemented. However, I absolutely prefer the graphics of BG 2 with its beautiful painted surroundings. A rich storyline is a must, of course. Lots more joinable NPCs would add tons of replay value. And more portraits and possibilities to customize the apparence of your PC would be great as well.

If just for this, the answer exists: all you have to do is install Ascension ;)

And for improvements, having better Avatars for the npcs, or at least for the pc (!) should be fine.
I mean, the bad guys get super-cool avatars, the good guys only the standard ones. That's not fair!

Just think of Sarevok's look in BG1 compared to that in TOB for an example.
It's not just unfair, it doesn't make sense at all
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Another game like BG2 is already on the way. Icewind Dale 2 the major thing that is missing is the npcs but you get most stuff. The same painted backgrounds. Third edition rules. The ability to switch between shield and sword and bow without raiding the inventory screen. It looks like it's going to be an awsome game although it may not be released before the holiday season and not necessarily by then since there is no date given.

I know that, of course, and I'll buy it the day it's available. However, in IWD1 I truly missed the NPCs from BG and P:T. Even the Henchman alternativ from NWN would have been better. Still, I'm sure IWD2 is gonna be a great game: 3rd Ed., subraces, lots of new portaits...
