Poll/Challenge: How many weapons did you/could you beat BG2 w/o

Post by vbarash »

I thought this up when looking at another post on the Interplay ToB board... they were saying how EVERYBODY is using all the really good, famous weapons that make your fighters gods and the game incredibly easy. So I compiled a list (its long!). I want to see how it compares to other people (but noone has to spend the same amount of time making such a lsit!!!) :D

I beat the whole game without:
Forged items:
Crom Fayer
Wave
Mace of Disruption+2
Gesen Bow
Silver Sword
The equalizer

Equipment:
Sunstone bullets
ALL axes
Crossbow+4
Flail of the Ages
Blackmist+4
Dragon's Breath+4
Dragon's Bane+3
ALL katanas (except for regular+1 and +2)
Elven Court Bow
Heartseeker+3
Ripper+2
Blade of Roses+3
Handmaiden's Mace
Jerod's Mace
ALL scimitars
Tasheron's Bow
Tuigan Bow
ALL short swords except for Backstabbing, Arbane's, +1, +2
ALL slings and darts except for Arla's Dragonbane
ALL spears except for the Impaler
Rod of Smiting
Martial Staff +3
Rod of Resurrection
Staff of Arundel
Staff of the Magi
Cursed Berserking Sword
Harbinger+3
Joril's Dagger+3
Lilarcor
Soul Reaver
Unholy Reaver
ALL clubs
ALL warhammers except for Hammer of Thunderbolts

In addition, I beat MOST of the game (except for after-Underdark Chapters) without:
Adjatha
Daystar
Carsomyr
Warblade+4
Mana Bow+4
Staff of the High Forest+4
Blackrazor
and either of the Dragon Armors

:D :D :D

Did you play as a monk?
You can't handle the truth!

No, I didn't play a monk. That would be a little too obvious. My party wasn't all spellcasters, either. I had two full fighters (Keldorn and Misnc) and summons (fire elem. and aerial servant). But I was definitely challenged; my emphasis is on the fact that it IS possible to beat the game, more, to enjoy beating it (like to explore all side quests) without all the famous weapons. Just a plea for alternatives...
