Custom npc

The swashy is out of my hands, although i hear its moving along nicely... the people who are now building it have a serios gripe with the people who are building senhaar... its like an arms race, its the rogue race.. all the tech ppl are going bezerk to better the othere.. and this is all over a comic peice of writing found on the web entitled "Linux is more geeky" which is a favourite platform of several people who were going to work on the npc with us, until we agreed that linux is indeed more geeky and at once they ran off and swore there rogue would not only be better than ours.. it would also be done first

to serje le blade, since its going to be a female pc thats romancing a bard.. it should be in my opinion and is a woman that writes the responce dialogues.. I email core dialogue, ie intent and the feelings the pc is trying to express, he adds a bit of flowery language and punctuation ect, then emails it the another who writes the responces.. I have yet to recieve an email of the responce options however... as for your female npc, be sure its not a cleric paladin or monk. lawfull neutral / lawfull good / lawfull evil, gnome or elf .. human half orc or halfings or half elf only pls

Archer_s .. The larger portrait isnt suitable for a bard, infact im sure its a red wizard.. he does have the right face as far as me and my friends are concerned, sort of a younger "I wish this was what i looked like" version of edwin, the large npc portrait will look nothing like it, ill post both if you like.. they make an awesome mage / sorc npc portrait in my opinion.. just buzz me and ill post it

Very poetic, quite perfect for a bard. The dialogue I mean.

Yay..

my idea of dialogue is not exactly bardic or poetic, but im doing my best, this is what was sent to me via email

"I want him to say something cool when the theiving little gypsy scumbag dies, something authenticly bardic.. If you make it sappy and romantic it will go hard with you, its not *that* kind of bard, think last hero. Dont make people sick with wet dialogue.. Remeber that bit where Anoiwishiwasarealman picks the flower? And we all threw up, and I couldnt play bg2 for weeks.."

oh and btw, he actually likes yoshimo... you should see his names for the other npcs

Now that I have them, here are some dialoues you have previosly seen, with responces... If you dont mind the spoilers, pls tell me what you think

Oh, great. My first pick for a female PC would be a chaootic good elf (drow) priestess (of Eilistraae, Sola's goddess)
The second a human lawful neutral monk.
What should I expect from him, is he gonna try to kill me? Or to drop ME from the party?

Seriously, ins't that npc going to be incompatible with too much of the npcs and possible pcs?

Senhaars compatibility is based solely apon the views of the pc, whom he is deathly afraid of and I mean seriosly.. She will at one point change into the slayer and try to kill him (btw, does anyone think thats bhaals way of saying.." Stay the hell away form my doughter") and he isnt exactly a great knight or powerfull sorcerer.. he is a bard, a trickster and story teller.. occasional theif and part time wizard.
If the pc supports his mockery of another char, then he will continue to the point of bloodshed, confident that the pc will back him up.. If the pc tells him to cut it out, he will do so however reluctantly.

Senhaar is supposed to be a rolplaying exersize and as such, he wont like certain pc's proffesions.. in the same way alot of people wouldnt go out with a drug dealer or hit man, heavy or possibly even a big time executive type who is always absorbed by work, ie the D&d version of a paladin monk or preist, in that they live there life firstly by a certain rhetoric and secondly by want they want to do.

The elf and gnome thing will be delved into during to romance, I cant spoil anything here

trying to make a npc with likes and Dislikes, firmly held ones.. And the compatibility is up to the pc, unless your a wizard and have Valygar in your party, before the planer quest.

Senhaar is not a warrior, or a great wizard and he makes no such claims.. he joins your party to detail its saga and becouse it might be fun, the same reason any self respecting bard would.
He will back down from fights, becouse he is not a fighter, he is not by nature brave or confronting but its up to the pc which side of him they want to bring out.. the mad side, or the loyal one
I personally see this as a good idea, becouse like Anomen you get two romances for the price of one

Okay okay, I know you can't alter the dialogues much but I just had to alter this one as well as my suggested changes to the first one.

Uhm... can you tell us something more about Senhaars?
Apart from romance issues, why a serious pc would want (need?) him in the party?
(other than writing my biography, I mean)
Special abilities... special items... personal quests?

He has no quests, he simply joins the party to detail there story.. As a bard he will not be a powerfull character and I cant be expected to make him one.

Certain elements of inividuality will be added, Ive decided to give him custom items.. there names and history are not yet complete.

Cloak
Equiped abilities : Spirit armour, +1 Intel

Hammer
+5 thaco
+1 attack
Not enchanted to hit

Gloves
+2 Crushing damage
Casts spiritual hammer twice per day
Casts improved haste, 3 charges.

If anyone can think of a good name, or changes to any of those items i would be apreicative

I'm not really sure a hammer (and spiritual hammer) is fitting for Senhaar.
But I really like the fact that he's not very powerful! And if you take him in your party, you do it for roleplaying reasons. Great!

The hammer thing is due to his clerical background

No self repecting bard would throw away a usefull item, bring the theiving gypo's they are.....

He isnt meant to be powerfull, but I was considering giving him one or two innates, two or three snares perhaps... nothing too uber
