I am new to this game and have purchased some spells. i was wondering where it says Cost/Chance why my chance is at 0 but the spell still works. i also was wondering when i get a class of magic up useing a spell over and over what the advancment dose. Dose it let me get more powerfull spells. :confused:

Also what dose the beggers nose do i have tried to use it to detect animals but it dosnt do anything. Dosent point me towards a animal or anything then i used it when i was standing in front of one and it didnt do anything.

PLEASE ANSWER AS SOON AS POASABLE

Well. I usually dont read manuals before I play the game-just because I am lazy. I usually only skim the manuals. So my answer will be what I have discovered by playing a mage and raising levels in mysticism, destruction, alteration, etc. that it increases the chances that a given spell, under that school, will be cast.

More difficult spells will cost more magicka and will have a smaller chance of being cast.

Heres an example using my mage that I am currently playing:
I have a 51 as my Conjurer level.

I have a 100% chance to cast Ancestor Ghost at around 20 magicka
I have a 89% chance to cast Lesser Bonewalker at around 35 magicka
I have a 55% chance to cast a Clannfear at around 45 magicka
I have a 23% chance to cast a Daedroth at around 90 magicka

Notice how the percentages go down for harder level spells and also notice how much more magicka it costs to summon a daedroth compared to an Ancestor Ghost.

small snooty comment...you should buy the game so the company can stay in business and create more wonderful games...

ok, super t, detect animal, detect key and detect enchant all work the same way, except detect animal....

detect key will cast, and if you immediately right click to the map view, all keys, in chests or not will show as yellow circles...

blue for enchanted items...

red for detect animal....

but only animals with sould will show up....

by soul i mean you can soul trap them...so if you cast spell in middle of balmora, you wont see anything, you have to go out into wilderness or whatever to detect souls...

now a superbly useful, but i stopped using after awhile is a item, like extravagant ring with 100 feet of 2 second detect animal,key and enchantement...

activate, and right click immediately, in a deep dark dungeon you will see the amount of loot, and even see creatures in fog of war....

using "player->tfow" you can wipe the fog and see all amubush points and know when to activate ring of surroundings for crit damage sneak attacks....

also, some of the smuggler caves, its a major pain in the but to find the keys to release the slaves, and you can also see various parts of the dungeon, so you can plan strategy...

great at low levels...much less useful at high levels when you have created soem enchanted items...

Snooty? What's snooty about telling a burglar to stay the hell out of your local grocery, because the owners are going to raise the rates for all of you to make up for the loss? The guy's ripping us all off, whether he means to, or not. And feeling embarassed about calling it what it is--realworld theft--only encourages its practice.

You are right, fable. Unfortunetly, this practice has spread throughout society and now there is no stopping it. I mean, as soon as I got Morrowind, 2 of my friends immediatly requested that I copy the CD and give it to them. Of coarse I declined.

The temptation of saving money can be too strong for some. But I dont think hes ripping us off.

There's nothing clever about stealing from small development houses who put several years' work into producing a single item. It hits the streets--and you steal it. Who ends up paying when people do that? Us, the ones who buy it. Because that theft has to be factored into the cost.

i was just kidding about sounding embarressed... I am actually old enough to remember the hey days of the apple 2 series, and fully agree that software piracy is the lowest form of theft... :mad:
