*spoiler* Jharegs Quest unfair ?

Post by Archimedez »

Well I inquired Quint, Karlat and Beliat.
In court I state that Quint and Karlat are not guilty and proof it with the demons confession.
Then I choose to take the glass and free all.
I get 375 exp for it.

If I state that Karlat is quilty (and never mention the demon) I get 500 xp.

So what is that ?
Do the designers want me to call the demon, request the mage staff and load all the guilt on Karlat ?

I couldn't find a scroll of Protection from Evil (didn't notice the wands till too late)

I was a little disgruntled that I couldn't iterrogate the demon, but after considering, my character really had no problem with condemning Karlat. After all, he's killing all those kids on the word of a demon that they'll be brought back.

The guy wasn't innocent, by any means. So go ahead, load all the guilt on him. ;)

I don't think its unfair

I think this is one of those quests that you have to really reason out to get the max exp. The Demon tells you that its in the nature of demons to cause evil things so you really can't "blame" the demon. The brother Karlat is the one who

1. Tricked his brother into getting the children

2. Was the one who killed the children

3. Did all this for the selfish reason of gaining immortality

4. Believed a demon. I think he is smart enough to know that demons are not to be trusted.

5. In the end it also comes down to what happens to the device for which all this evil happened and only by pronouncing him guilty can you have it destroyed, which is the good thing to do.

So I guess it is correct in giving 500 exp for pronouncing Karlat is guilty. It's the right judgement.
Never be to sure of what you know. For remember there was a time when people "knew" the world was flat.
