Multiplayer party suggestions?

Post by EtherImp »

I would like to start playing a multi-player game (with ALL my self-created characters), and I was thinking over the best possible combination of characters.

My general idea:

2 strong melee players, 1 awesome archer character, 1 thief (focusing on archery/backstab), 1 "Wizard" (Mage, Sorcerer, specialist, or otherwise) focusing on attack spells, and 1 "Priest", focusing on defense and healing.

I was also considering what alignment I could/should play, just for the role playing aspects of the game. I was considering making an evil party, but that may be difficult if I want an "Archer", persay.. Due to the ranger alignment restrictions. Although I guess I could make him Chaotic good.. Or! I could make him a "Drow", and change his alignment in shadowkeeper?

Note that I would use this game as my "hacked" game, so I am open to suggestions that involve changing variables and such. I will still be keeping my other party clean of cheats (my single player party), so that I may fully experience the game the "Right" way.

So.. Any suggestions? What kinda characters would you put in a "power" party?

If you don't want to worry about alignment restrictions with your 'archer,' you could always use a fighter with proficiency points in bows. Granted, you don't get called shot and all that, and since you're using SK, you can just change it. Plus, at later levels when you have lots more proficiency points, it may help to have 3 or more stars in a melee weapon of your choice in case you absolutely have to. Just my thoughts.

You don't ought to be good.
You can download the Sola mod, it comes with a new Fighter kit - the Generic Archer, which is similar to the Ranger kit, but it can be evil aswell.

Based on the format you listed, here's a possible basic outline for a good-aligned party.

Human Cavalier - Big, two-handed weapons. Carsomyr, etc.
Dwarven Berserker - Axes and hammers. Azuredge, Crom..
Elven Archer - Long or short bows. Long seem better for roleplaying, though.
Halfling Swashbuckler - Dual-weilding short swords or daggers? ^_^
Half-Elven Sorcerer - Blaster! ^_^
Human Cleric of Lathander - Maces or flails, probably.

Two frontline bashers, a dedicated archer, a rogue... although he or she will have to make a switch to a vanilla thief if you want backstab... granted assassin or bounty hunter might work but they don't seem very.. well.. good-aligned to me. Backstab isn't 'good' either, though. Eh. Anyway, then you have your mage and your cleric. Obviously, since you'll be making this party, customize it to fit your personal preferences.

For evil.. hm..

Half-Orc Barbarian - Whatever you get him to use, call him Thokk the Unfriendly, or just Thokk for short. I'm partial to that name when it comes to half-orc barbarians.
Dwarven Berserker - Korgan.. ish.
Elven Fighter/Thief - A blend of backstab and archery, if you're so inclined.
Halfling Bounty Hunter - Heh.
Human Necromancer - Conjurer, Illusionist, Sorcerer, or just plain Mage would be a better choice, but Necro fits so well with the evil party theme ^_^
Human Cleric of Talos - Probably flails.

*shrug* Just some thoughts I had on the subject.

Thanks for the suggestion man.. I was thinking of doing something like this:

Race = Good/Evil

Human/HalfOrc or whatever Fighter with grandmastery in duel weapon fighting

Human/HalfOrc or whatever Fighter with grandmastery in 2-handed weapon(s)

Elven/Drow Archer (edited by shadowkeeper if I wanted him to be evil)

Elven/Drow Thief, used to backstab and as a backup archer

Dwarven/Druegar Cleric with proficiency in Flail+sling and protective magic (control undead with "turn undead" for an evil party)

Human/Drow Necromancer or Invoker.

___

Pretty straight forward and maybe a little boring.. I have put little thought into it but I would make it more "role play" oriented once I actually got into the game and started constructing the party. I was even thinking of making an ALL drow party.. I am a bit hesitant to make a large evil party though. Seems like it would be very difficult to complete the game AND follow your "evil" alignment without having a reputation of 1 or 0

Fighter types

Half-Orc barb or berserker with dual-wield, longs swords and katanas, also scimitars if a barb.

Human monk ....

Halfling fighter/thief specialising in bows (all types + halfilng thief bonuses and dex bonus for bows)

Elf Sorcerer (spell for any ocassion)

Gnome illusionis (19 int)

Human Ranger9/Cleric, gets both Druid and cleric spells plus tons of proficiencies, (downside is only 2 star specialisation) go for dual wielding hammers flail maces anything blunt, also get shield and sling proficienies later on.

2.5 awesome fighters. allows for best weapons in game (OK, no Carsomyr but its really not that good...)

One amazing priest (cleric and druid spells)

The monk specialising in sneaking and your fighter/thief specialsises in everything else, This is ample thief abilities, you quickly get 100 in trap setting, trap detecting , and locks which are most important.

The sorceror and the illusionist. necromancy scrolls get used by the sorc, who specializes in all the neccessary necrolytic spells. The illusionist just builds up his huge repetoire of spells.

Have i missed anything?,

The two downsideds no halberds or two-handed swords.
Also two out of the three main fighters Barborberserker and ranger/cleric dual wield so ranged weapons are impracticl.

how about an alll good party consisting of
1 Archer (elven) (5 prof. in lng bow, 1 in katana)
2 mages (1 1/2 elven conjourers 1 elven reg.) (sling)
1 elven theif (prof. in short bow, lng sword)
1 elven cleric of Lothander (prof in sling, flail, mace)
1 elven warrior (3 prof. in dual wp., sp. in katana and lng sword+ bow)
You can also use a trick involving ToB, and make this party (with afew adjustments) there, then export them all into Char. files, and import them import them all into SoA. If you do this idividually, you should get all items. Then, before you cry out in SoA, pause and click the inventory button (h also works) and drop all your stuff (note, you loose your familiar but not the HP, as well as all in bags of holding)

hmmm?

uhm... if your making a evilpowerparty heres my suggestion:

human fighter/mage, dualclassed at maybe lvl15 or sumtin. using 2 weaps... perhaps flail of ages and crom faeyr? id suggest using the berserker kit.

human wizardslayer/thief dualclassed at lvl15, wielding carsomyr (with use any item you know)

halforc barbarian... heh... kinda speaks for itself ye know. no?

also... human fighter dualclassed to cleric for good spells.

really... you dont need much more i think. this way you have a 4-persons party and all are capable or closecombat, can do some serious dmg, you have thief abilities, cleric spells for healing and mage spells... tensers transformation rocks!
you can use all cheese... like simulacrum, make your simulacrum use a time stop scroll then have improved mantle with robe of vecna and cast ALL your spells!! or... use him with the staff of fire... summon lots and lots and lots of fire elementals with your simulacrum... in the time stop of course :)

what ye think? not any ranger really... but i prefer with none... maybe the fighter/cleric can have 5-stars in slings with sling of everard? hmmm... as you might see i like dualclassing :)
