Okay, maybe the female prostitutes saying their lines to female characters may be a glitch.

But what about that Oreth and his High Captain employers...? What else do you employ a male prostitute to do?
Perhaps to serve the same function for female customers that female prostitutes do for male customers? There was a male prostitute in the brothel in Neverwinter in Chapter 1 as well. For those of you who don't play tabletop roleplaying in FR you might not know but Faerun is much more free in terms of what women can and can't do than Earth was at a similar time in history. Therefore it wouldn't be odd to see a woman frequent a brothel and thus you would have to have employees at said establishments to meet the needs of the feminine customers. I doubt both the male and female prostitutes were meant for male customers.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Wait, wait a second, I think everyone went way too far in their conjectures about this comment... I bet many of you mature players watched a porn movie at least once in your life. Now, unless you`re gay, how many of you were paying attention to the male actors? No one, of course, but probably that movie would have never existed without some male actors to play their role.
In D&D, TV`s and Movie Theaters obviously do not exist, so the high captains, if wanting to watch some show, would necessarily need to hire some male prostitutes. That simple.

Ok, now, switching the joke mode off, I`d like to say a couple of things about this whole thread:
  • Regarding Homosexuality in NWN or BioWare`s games:

I dont think they really care about this, in fact, as someone previously mentioned, approaching to a male prostitute playing a male character results in no dialogue at all, or small dialogue which always results in rejection and unwillingness to talk on the prostitute`s part. Although they did take a deeper look into the subject since Baldur`s gate saga, for instance, by making the characters get nude, or fall asleep afterwards, which, btw, I found very funny, specially the female prostitutes`snoring. :D

I dont believe a gaming company will be bad or good at what they do by including this sort of topics into their games`major or minor plots. It would just make a different game, maybe with another age rating.

Also, probably gaming companies dont want to pay much attention to this either, as their purpose is to have better sales while making all these games we all enjoy playable by the largest possible audience, and including these sort of circumstances could lead to, as mentioned above, probably not the rating they would like, thus meaning less sales. And less sales means less profit, meaning less cash to finance more good games in the future.
  • Regarding the whole homosexuality discussion that the topic brought up:

Well, a discussion about this subject is definitely off forum.
Remember there`s the private message feature to argue or share your points of view with those members you`d like to.
Also, I strongly believe you can easily discern between those posts written with sense of humor and those written with serious intentions, and, after all, I don`t think anyone here wanted to mean offense. The Diablo II comment seemed really funny to me, since it was an obvious joke, as everyone knows that no game at all will alter your sexuality, and also everyone knows how good Bizzard games and specially the Diablo saga are, whether you like them or not.
Play the game, have fun guys, this is whats all about.

I agree with Calogrenant, on both points. Debating that there's homosexuality in the game is one thing, but going into its morality is something else completely, and does not belong here.
Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
