Freezes at load screen

Post by fontaine »

I have just finished Chapter 5, the Underdark & Dragon Eggs. I got out and spoke to Elhan.
Then when I tried to travel to a different region my computer crashed to the desktop, after 3 tries I was sucessful.
Now I am in The Slums but each time I try to leave my computer freezes at the load screen.
I did download the latest patch when I started the game & do have TOB loaded also.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

Thank you

I had the same problem, but only after I f***ed around a lot with SK.
If you've been using SK, undo your changes.
Also, try loading an earlier save, might do the trick. ;)

meanwhile you could you use the CluaConsole:MoveToArea("")
that might help you too

What is SK?

I deleted the cache, managed to get out of 1 town and crashed to the dreaded blue screen when I tried to enter a building.

SK is ShadowKeeper. It's a BG2 editor.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Fontaine: I had the very same problems. I formatted, reinstalled OS, reinstalled BG, and patched the game. I refrained from cheating or editing. I got the latest Norton Antivirus, WinDoctor, and Security.

It still froze on load screens and the game was testing my patience to its limits.

So, I went to Circuit City and bought a new computer. You can get a decent machine with a grand these days. I suggest you do the same.

Hi Andy:

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have a custom built PentiumIII 1000, 46MB hard drive, 384 RAM, CD-RW Albit mother board with a top video & sound card.

My system has never had a problem with any game so I do not suspect it now.
