Help with high-level Fighter's Guild quest (*Spoiler* - detailed quest description)
I'm now a Guardian in the fighter's guild. I've been doing quests for lots of the fighter's guilds (Balmora, Vivec and Ald'Ruhn.) At some point, the guildmaster in Vivec gave me a quest to kill a woman at the census and excise office in Seyda Neen (her name starts with an "a" but I can't remember it.) Anyway, she didn't attack me on sight, and I didn't want to murder her (I'm a paladinly character) so I decided to wait (maybe my taunting would improve and I could get her to attack me...) Anyway, I continued doing quests for the Balmora and Ald'ruhn guilds. I did all the Balmora quests. After doing the Suran quest for the Ald'ruhn guild I mentioned the name of the girl from Seyda Neen I'm supposed to kill to the Ald'Ruhn guildmaster (Percius Mercius, who a lot of reliable NPCs have told me is a good guy.) He says that the guildmaster in Vivec is corrupt, and tells me to kill him. When I arrive in Vivec, the guildmaster (the orc guy) attacks me. I kill him, go back to Ald'Ruhn and am told to kill the Balmora guild master. I kill her too (same scenario.) Now Percius tells me to kill the Fighter's guild grandmaster (Sjoring? in Vivec.) So I go to Vivec, but unlike the others before, Sjoring is my best friend and won't attack me (he wants to give me a quest to kill a bunch of thieve's guild leaders, that seems wrong and I don't want to do.) If I attack him, the whole guild comes down on my head. (Of course, when *I* get attacked in the guild by another guild member, no one runs to my aid, which seems a tad unfair, but I digress.)
<Takes breath/>
So anyway, my question is, what am I doing wrong? Why won't Sjoring attack me? Am I missing something? Is it a bug? Does anyone else have this problem? Do I have to do something special to trigger this attack?
Thanks for bearing with me through this long-winded post

I too am stuck at this point. I read another post on here that said you can taunt Sjoring into atacking you. However my taunting isn't good enough, I get his liking for me down to 0 but he still won't attack. I guess I shall have to get some training.
"Magic is impressive but Minsc leads now, swords for everyone!"
"It is no shame to run away now and to come back later with bigger swords!"

The Kameleon-patented method for a character with 5 Speechcraft to get people to attack him:
1) Have a lot of money (well you won't need that much, just about 5000 absolute max)
2) Get the target's disposition over 60-ish
3) Taunt the target until disposition is between 20 and 30
4) Bribe target in 10 gold increments (or more if you have that much money) until their disposition is above 60-ish
5) Rinse and repeat until they say "That's it, you're dead" or whatever
6) Mercilessly slaughter them in a bloody hackfest and then take all their loot, and all the money you spent on bribes, from their cold dead corpse.
*evil laugh*

How about
the Frenzy spells? Or those would be considered as attack anyway (the reverse spells - Charm and Calm - doesn't)? If not you might think about an item with strong Frenzy on it if you aren't able to cast it yourself efficiently enough.

Why spend all that money on Bribes? You could get your speechcraft raised to a sufficient lvl through training for half as much. Even better... practice persuasion on the slaves you free...they love you at first, they are usually dumb, and their opinion of you doesn't affect the gameplay. Just Admire, Admire, Admire. If you finally run one down to zero...you can go to the next.
Every time I free slaves I use persuasion until I get a lvl-up. It takes long sometimes but it is worth it in quests.
Remember...if the person you are talking to won't tell you what you want...Quicksave...then start admiring. High disposition is like beer in a teenage girl...it loosens them up!!!

Why spend all that money? Because if you kill the guy you bribed, you get that money back.
As far as the delemma: You guys are thinking WAY too hard. Bribing? Taunting? You dont need to do any of that. Just do what I did. Make sure Sjoring Hard Hart is in the room-close the door behind you and make sure the door doesnt open in the middle of a fight. Attack Sjoring and its all over. No one else in the guild attacks you. I must have done this 4 times and I do it the same every time and it always works.

“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

yes, thats the evil path.
Forgot to mension. Before you kill Sjoring for the fighters guild, talk to him and click on orders-so that he gives you the quest to kill the theives guild members-he gives you 5k gold in advance. So pocket the 5k gold-then kill him!

i completed this quest last night. he would go into his room to shut the door. i hide behind him and back stabbed him and finished him off. no one attacked me. could be because i completely exhausted all of the converstation with Percius Mercius? there was a lot of hidden stuff, like talking about the fighters guild, etc.
