The only time I got 'involved' as such reading Dragonlance was at the end of Dragons of Summer Flame, when Tas dies and the whole realm becomes more 'normal', ie. just one moon and failing magic.
Lord Soth is the undead knight who is in love with Kit right?
I havent read Dragons of a summer flame, though i thought the power or magic of the heart is the next evolution of the plot as in what happens in the Minotour islands with the Cleric ofg Bersomething

Thanks mar, order of the sword, i knew i was missing something. That scene was really well written for a commerical book.
Havent read the books for a long time.
Need to pick up some of the newer ones.

What's wrong with being CONverted to the dark side. You paladins are a bit too stuffy. C'mon, live a little.

Seeya tomorrow @Eerhardt.
@Mah-I think they needed a leader, so Sturm got put in charge, under the assumption that he was a knight.
@Fas-Yep, that was Lord Soth. IIRC the bigwig paladin had to stick up for Sturm's application to join the knighthood, I remember Raistlin telling someone-or-rather (Goldmoon, I think) that he was only made into a knight proper after his heroic death.
@McB-Yeah! Tell it like it is, my man!

...in the end, Lord Soth claimed her right after she died.
BTW, are you referring to Crysania?
@Ode: The way I remembered it, Sturm's initial application was rejected, however putting into consideration the retrieval of the dragon orb and the strength fo character of Sturm, Gunthar Uth Wistan installed him into the order under the latter's oath.
After all, at that time when The Measure had failed the Knighthood, what was only left for the real knights was their Solamnic Oath.

@Mah-We should start a new thread on this. I bet we'd get loads of people on SYM debating it...
Raistlin mentions something about respecting Sturm all the more because he chose to abide by the Measure, even though he wasn't technically required to by virtue of not being a 'true' (ie. officially made a proper knight) knight. I think, come to think of it, he said that to BIG SPOILER

Sturm's son, Steel, who was born to Kitiara. I'm fairly certain it was in Dragons of Summer Flame, though I may be wrong.

Actually mar what i am refering to is a stand alone book of the Dragon Lance series. I dont remember the name, but it was part of a 5 stand alone book series. 1 dealt with the Dwarfs underneath the mountains when Chaos was let loose the book is called the last Thane IIRC. Then there was the Siege of Nevermountain (the gnome mountain). The 5th book dealt with the Minotour islands, and with a cleric of a minotour god who gained powers to destory choas creatures. This was refered to as the power of the heart by 2 or 3 people and also the up and coming books detail it as well.
edit del mountains and changed it to islands

Those vermin chewed on our electrical wirings in the ceiling so the wires being exposed...
...it started in my room. Being wall-to-wall carpeted, not to mention all our rooms also wood-panelled, the house was down in less than 1 hour.
I was at work when it happened. Nothing much was left for us. Just a few bits of stuff that we saved.
Whatever we were wearing was the only clothes we had.
But thank God my family was able "to rise from the ashes" and now I could pretty much say that our house now is much better and we are all doing fine...
The big loss were stuff that money can't buy like family pictures, and other sentimental stuff.

First of all, I've been called many things, but "young man" has to be a first . "Go to your room" was probably most used when I was younger . Second, we thought we could use a change of scenery and the Buck Satan stadion looked pretty impressive. @Mah: it's good to know you're back on your feet. Too bad for the stuff with sentimental value, though ** pours himself and Mah a mug of C.C.B. each ** I'm still catching up on yesterday evening's events in SYM

What's the matter Georgeous, don't you like shellfish?
It's great thread to thread-jack. No-one would have expected it, for a start, and it's also putting a thread that would otherwise have been wasted on something so dull as sports to good use.
@Mah-Sorry to hear about your house, my friend, though as you say 'tis lucky indeed that your family were all alright.
Hope the insurance covered a reasonable amount of the replacable things.
@Eerhardt-Technically you're about two or three years older than Georgeous anyway, you know...

...well, I don't want to sound like I was trying to elicit sympathies from having our house burned.
That was well over 6 years ago and everything is fine at home.
Actually we bought another house and had it renovated. I think it's much better than the one we lost.
The insurance was not enough but it helped a lot
But darn those senti stuff that went along with the house...
...books that I personally bought through my savings, my AD&D rulebooks and AD&D stuff, my *ahem* letters and other very improtant stuff like family pics.
Good morning hermano and good afternoon amigo (Eery and Odie). I'm doing my article as usual. It's more on the thinking of what to write that takes my time rather than the actual writing.

...just thinking how we'll get by...*
The first night was the worst for me since I was at a state of shock and definitely at a denial stage. As I woke up in the garage the morning after, looked up at the charred ceiling, the smell of burnt wood told me that this was for real.
When I got back home from work I was so surprised and shocked that I left my car and straight off to look for my parents --- not realizing that I did not put up the handbrake and the car went straight to the firetruck. It's a good thing that my brother was fast enough to get in and stop the car.
But as I pause and reflect on things, I realized that as a family we were not that troubled on how we would make a new start.
Nah, we're not a rich family --- we financially get by --- but seeing my parents as pillars of strength, we their children rallied behind them and told ourselves that we will be fine.
Dad and Mom were very much composed and in control of things, I didn't worry anymore. We had a lot of adjusting to do, but yes, we survived throughm it.
Dad's strength of character inspired me to be just like him --- despite the odds one must prevail.

Insightfull post, Mah . My Dad is like that too and despite our differences, I believe I get along pretty good with my parents. Especially with the conflicts in our family as a whole , it's amazing how our family unit (me, my parents and my sister and brother) sticks together ** takes another drink from his C.C.B. **

...my teenage and young adult years were very turbulent for me as far as my relationship with my Dad is concerned.
Being the eldest, he has put a lot of expectations in me, to be matured enough and be a model for my younger brothers.
I've always thought then that I did my best but I was never good enough for him.
My brothers and I really look up to him but somehow we thought that we'll never be as good as him coz our personalities and interests are very much different. His achievements in life are things that can be truly be proud of (i.e., country boy makes it big in the city out of his own effort).
My father is an intelligent man. He got third place in the board exam for geologists and topped the most difficult part of the exam. (maybe Gwally knows about this)
But man, was he a BAAAAD student. He spent 7 years too just like me at the uni.
I remember crying a lot when I got my first failing mark (a first of more to come ) in my life (I was a consistent honor student during my primary and secondary years)...
...my father asked me what I was crying for... then he said, go to the Registrar's Office and check out his transcripts (btw, my parents and brothers graduated from the same school --- University of the Philippines).
I saw his transcripts and boy was it colorful! (with all those "red inks" seemingly "splattered" here and there...)
Then I look at my Dad now --- one of the top geologist-managers of the biggest local corporation of the country.
Yeah, he's telling me that there is more to life than just grades.
It's what you do when crap happens is what is more important.
