Yes, such spells can give a thief some much improved combat power. I'm not sure about Chill Touch being amplified by backstab so I’ll have to investigate.

Back to the topic:
black blade of disaster is surely powerful for a thief. Also Tenser Transf.....this one is good for all dual classed mages, that can use other abilities while under transformation; i don't find it really useful for mages because they loose their casting ability for a long time.....
About chill touch i don't know....i'll try this one.....a good thing coming out from discussion

and added u to my buddylist and also don't know how this works

tensfer trans. sure is one of the best spell for any dual mage i agree.
inprove invis is also a good spell and stone skin (duhh

)

but what about some pet summoning i think that is a great spell for a assassin/mage.
When u are in trouble summon some pets so that your foes don't come after u when u run to hide in shadows, so u can backstab again
