I figured out my problem. I think it had something to do with the boots of speed which I always wore. Anyways, I downloaded the patch off of some unofficial update site (can't remember the name but it's posted on this board; great site by the way) and my assassin works fine. He hits like normal and can actually get backstabs in now. Also, while on backstabs, I know this has been discussed before, but what's the highest backstab you ever got? Mine is with assassin with 6x backstab and celestial fury I got 170 damage plus the 20 extra electrical. Bad thing was this was on a troll so I still had to take out my fire blade and kill him.

@Edwin- thanks for the invitation, but I won't fall into your arcane spiderweb. :D </STRONG>

I'm using Kachiko's Wakizashi +3 which I purchased from Joluv (Bonus Merchant in the Slums). I agree with Grimreaper regarding the problem he encountered when backstabbing using the Celestial Fury. I interchange C.F. and Kachiko's Wakizashi +3 when doing a backstab throughout all the Chapter 2 quests. And I've noticed that I hit more frequently with the Kachiko's Wakizashi +3 than with the C.F. (Maybe because the Kachiko's Wakizashi +3 has a speed factor of zero.) So when I started Chapter 3, I let Valygar used the C.F. and my Assassin the Kachiko's Wakizashi +3. For my Assassin's projectile attack, I use the Firetooth +3, since I can use the Poison Weapon Ability with this throwing dagger. The Poison Weapon Abilty does not seem to work with bows and arrows. Although, I have only tried it with an ordinary short bow equipped with arrows +1/+2 and not magical bows like Gesen's or the Tansheron's.

There's something wrong here. Everybody says they can't use poison weapon with arrows but mine works fine. Last night with Tansheron's Bow I poisoned that guy in De'Arnise easily. Also, I believe it worked with normal arrows but that was awhile ago that I used them so I'm not sure. Anyone else tried Tansheron's with poison weapon? If I recall it should be the same as with any other bow and arrows because the arrows are described as a separate item and that they're just created by the bow. Thing is, I'm not sure if this is how they actually created the weapon.

Im now out of the underdark and would be able to use the Gesen bow. The Poison Weapon Ability now works fine with the Gesen but still not with ordinary bow and arrows.

I've had no problem poisoning normal arrows, either. My assassin grabs the Tuigan bow ASAP. BTW, I've noticed that if a critter requires a magical weapon to hit, poisoning normal arrows just won't work against them.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

In my first game i used a mage. Then i installed the official patch. And then tried to play as an assassin. And sometimes i have problems with backstabbing :(
Maybe it's the official patch??? Any idea???
I know it fixed the massive backstabbing you had before, but now my assassin is not so powerful without his backstabb.....

Edwin: Try the patch from Baldurdash. That seemed to fix all of my assassin problems. Other than that, I don't know.

Since I usually use Shadowkeeper to change my assassin into a Shadow Thief I prefer equipping him with a pair of daggers (since the Shadow Thief sprite is armed with a knife)or a dagger and a short sword. Not the most effective combination but it’s in character.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

It's a good choice trying to equip a character with "his" weapon (weapon characteristic of his class).
Can you please tell me how you change your assassin in a shadow thief.....a new character to play
:D :D

All I do is use Shadowkeeper to change the appearance of my assassin to that of the Shadow Thief sprite, since I believe the Shadow Thief looks much cooler then the normal rouge. It’s not new class or anything ( :( :o ) just a different look for my protagonist. ;)

Grimreaper,

I have the Baldurdash installed, but there is no specific fix made to the Assassin class in the readme document (unless I missed it).

Anyway, can you enlighten me on this regard.

I don't believe there was a specific thing for assassin's in the baldurdash patch, but my problem was the boots of speed. I don't know if this is Edwin's problem, but it was the only thing I could think of that would cause it. So I figured it was worth a try.

I don't have boots of speed. But in these days i don't have time for playing BGII too.... :(
So i'll let you know later........

A question: when ToB will be out, which kind of game are you going to play?????
I think my first time i'll go on with a new character. After that i'll start a new BGI game and run through ALL the BG games with a new character...

Spam?!? What's that? :D

Kayless, you've got to get away from these mages! They'll be the death of you yet. Before you know it..., you'll be a *shudder* sorceror. Well, they're easier to kill.
