Most incompetent enemy you ever faced?

Post by Nygma »

I'm playing through again with Tashia, Solaufein, and Ascension mods installed. Dang, some of these improved fights...

Anyway, the point of this thread, I ran into one of those "you have been waylaid by enemies..." fights at, as usual, the worst possible time, when I was heading towards an inn to get healed. Almost before the usual expletive could slip out, the enemy spellcaster cast Greater Command at my group. Four out of the five enemies and none of my own fell unconscious! Couldn't believe it. I've never had an enemy help me out like that before.

I suspect this was part of the "Improved" enemy spellcasting from the Solaufein mod, but I thought it hilarious. (Unlike the souped-up mage in the Guarded Compound, for instance. )

I have actually been healed by enemy spellcasters on several occassions (the Yuan-Ti mage in the D'Arnise Keep comes to mind in particular).

Every time I go through that battle he always casts 'Invisibility' and 'Protection from Evil' on one of my characters. Not so smart really.

I must say the casting of Gate without Protection from Evil is high on my list...

My favorite is definately when they cast Gate while neglecting to protect themselves from evil. But also I've found that high level Protection from Evil 10' Radius lasts longer than a mage's protection from evil, that's also fun too... sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh.

Just ran into another good one - a lich that casts Protection From Normal Weapons on itself (aren't liches already immune to normal weapons?).

All the liches in this mod are pretty tough at low levels, but this guy was pretty easy. Saw the spellcasting come up and ran at him with everybody. As he was being hacked apart, he tried to cast protection from magical weapons.

"Lich: Casting Protection From Magical Weapons.
Lich: Cannot cast Protection From Magical Weapons while Protected from Normal Weapons."

And I thought these guys were ultra-intelligent spellcasters! :p

Not to mention robbed of your life - the bounces are hard to predict. There you stand, happily humming on your second flashy spell when suddenly - Wham! Hit in the chest, your hair goes techno and the beautiful spell is lost. And when the blast of your own creation hits you a second time, mercifully closing your eyes and sparing you from further humiliation, you somewhat regret putting your back towards the wall in order to protect yourself from backstabs...
