Lore question

Post by TheDude »

hi i'm playing solo sorcerer now
and my stats are
str 14
dex 18
con 15
int 18
wis 13
cha 10

but when i level up i only get + 1 to my lore.
as a wizzard a should get +3 and with 18 int,13 wis a bonus of + 10 right?
is this a bug or am i wrong?
i really want to get a high lore because then i can sell the glasses of indentification for some more room :D

IMHO, it was mentioned as one of disadvantages of sorcerer in the description of the class.

The int and wis bonuses (or reductions) are for starting only I believe. You get them once. After that you only get an increase based on your class.

***SPOILER***
Get the glasses of identification. They do the same job.

BTW, rising INT helps (lore is recalculated). So you may use potions. However, you never match the true mage in lore anyway.

Potions of Insight help your lore, too. :)
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

I didn't read your post properly b/c I was thinking why bother with high lore (which you can't get) if you have the glasses?!

They only use one slot - wait till you get the bag of holding. Bingo! No problems. Int & Wis potions do indeed raise your lore temporarily. Save up non-id'd items, drink the potions then ID all you can. But it stll won't solve the low lore problem.

Keep the glasses, get lots of ID scrolls or play a bard :D

I know this was discussed awhile ago, but...

why is it that an 8th level sorceror with an int of 18 has only a lore rating of 18?
isnt it 3 points per level with a +10 bonus with int?
i think my math is correct that it should be 34, right?
and Imoen who has an int of 17 at 7th level has a lore of 31...
I am assuming the class of sorceror gets only 1 lore point per level?
hmmmm, think I answered my own question.
although I do feel that sorcerors should get a higher lore rating.
reply if you have any info on this, thanks.

Well I'm just guessing, but a sorcerer has an innate spellcasting ability, while other mages have to study to be able to do magic... and lore is about having gathered more knowledge, so I suppose it could make sense that a sorcerer doesn't get any more lore than other non-rogue/mage classes.

Why not just put the glasses in a chest somewhere with any other items like them - at least until the start of chapter 4? Wouldn't it take up more space to carry round lots of potions?
