Easy way to kill Arkanis or any immortals
I am posting this so everyone can see that it has been discovered that the immortals in the game can be killed. The credit goes to ripper for the idea, but i have come up with a stratetgy for fighting Arkanis, and Harper Harkell so you can get Drizzits equipment, (and Maevars) without cheating.
Things you need to kill immortal:
Scroll of shapechange (must have)
Protagonist that has the spell prot from magic weapons or the scroll of magic prot found in adv mart.
Cast prot from magic weapons on protagonist before fight (or use scroll in Adv mart). Use scroll of shapechange, pick mindflayer.
Attack shadow thieves in guild (after you've been 2 underdark). When Arkanis appears attack him with mindflayer while hes attacking protagonist. If hes still alive, repeat. The int drain from the mindflayer gets em all, dont matter what belt hes wearing (in this game my pro was a mage so i killed him myself). Also anyone protected from magic weapons wont be harmed by his deadly attack. He was dead in about 4 seconds.
Note: i had the scroll of shapechange on me after completing underdark, not sure where i got it but i think it was from one of the high level cowled wiz parties or a random encounter.
------------------
In such times we may need the powerful magics of the past, and the heroes to wield them.

strangely enough you get no exp for killing him (big suprise there), he merely dies. All he is carrying is the same leather you get from completing Umar hills.

The fun part about killing him is the fact that it supposedly cant be done. This is just another example why the game developers have a hard time making the game hard, we, the gamers, can overcome anything they make, given time. I like doing things that supposedly cant be done and when you have beat the game solo with almost every clas (havent tried beastmaster yet you look to do new and different things with it, to keep havin fun. Besides i never said you should do it, i only gave a strategy for doing (nice having 3 pairs of boots of speed!).

For the harper I made a patch it is at Arundors Abode at :
http://go.to/arundor
Keep in mind if you have any romance patches it could overwrite them. If anyone is intersted I could send them a different patch that only replaces Harpers script so it wont affect any romances. (The one I created only will if they edit Baldur.bcs which I doubt they will) try exporting the Baldur.bcs file to your override directory, if it asks you to overwrite Baldur.bcs then say no cause something else is using that script.

If you try to kill the guy on the second floor of the shadow thief building, while not working for bodhi, he will appear. He is immortal (always stays on near death no matter how much dmg you do to him) and kills everyone in one hit.
@rapier: Have you tried killing imoen in irenacus' dungeon? If you have removed the XP cap and then you import your char again (and have shapechange in your spell book) you should be able to kill her. I have never tried that myself though.

Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

@Chade Fallstar: Good to see some other finns than Locke and myself! And you see to be an oldtimer Hyvää kesää!
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

Once upon a time, in a bizarre universe also called 'The Internet' there was a messageboard ...
Seriously, there was one guy who called himself 'Miekkamies', who I think, was finnisg also.
It's strange how different kind of people are intrested is Baldur's Gate. There was a poll here (a long time ago) about nationalities etc. Mostly people in europe in ages between 15-50 were writing here, even some professors who only had time to play after they've put their children to sleep ...
and for the last thing, niin ... hyvää kesää! =)
