100% altruistic players in a "public" place... In a perfect world! Still, I rest assured that the patient masses will one day out-perform them.

Did you have any particularly effective race/class combo in mind? I was thinking of an Elven Sorcerer. I like Elves (and they have awesome racial abilities if you don't take a warrior class), and Sorcerers need no more introduction. Elven Clerics wielding sword and bow are also an appealing possibility after all these years :)

BTW what's Griefing?

I usually play as humans but for Neverwinter Nights I figured I break the mold and play as a Half-Elf. For classes I was thinking of a Ranger/Rogue or a Barbarian but I haven't really decided yet. I'll just have to wait and see where my Spider-sense leads me. ;)

Griefing is the worse form of malicious attack a person can perform on another online. Unlike PKers who kill for treasure and experience, Griefers do so for sport. They can lay back harmless for an entire game then, when the party least expects it (like when they're fighting the last boss) they'll turn on them. Griefers are analogous to suicidal terrorist bombers. They’re not in it for their own advancement like PKers, they just want to cause other players grief (hence the name). And like suicide terrorists they are virtually impossible to stop. Pray you never meet one of these @ssholes.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Wouldn't the dual weild give you an extra attack anyways? It would be with your other weapon, but does that really make a difference?

Why would it not make a difference? If the Fighter/Ranger can dual wield to gain an extra attack, why shouldn't the straight Fighter be able to do so as well? That still puts you back on square 1...

LOL dude.....but i think that if you explain your mother the problem she'd prefer to have a sick son with ToB than a dead son... :D
Moreover i'm a medicine doctor, and i can surely say that, for a BG addicted like you, the only therapy is having ToB as soon as possible..... :p  ;)

Dude, don't worry. It's normal that if they say that ToB arrives in Holland today, your local shop will have it in a few days....i mean, probably today it's out in Amsterdam...so you can meet U-Niq there to buy your copies.... ;)
Another week-end without it i think....but if this can be of help, i received my copy 8 days ago and i haven't the time to play it (a lot to do not only in the library but also for the band...). So we'll probably finish the game at the same time..... :)

ok Edwin says this is the place for assassin / mages, so i goot ask what's the point?

is it a roleplay thing i.e. it's much cooler to be an assassin / mage than a plain thief / mage. and the roleplay aspect makes up for the 10 fewer thief points per level?

or is it using invisibility & knock to make up for poor thieving skills, and focusing thief points on finding & removing traps?

the assassin has plenty of advantages imo over the other thief kits, but they really aren't that good at the lower levels when you would have to dual?
poison weapon a few times / day just does not seem like a real good reason not to use a basic thief or the bounty hunter, (swash can't backstab so it's out)
----

tob bit - is there somekinda patch for the assassin backstab in tob, somehow it got reset to 5x.

@Koz-Ivan: yes, there's a patch released by bioware. Yopu can find it on the interplay webpage. It also fixes other problems.

About the assassin mage, i think you must not see this character as a main thief. IMO this is great to dual (don't remember the exact lvl) a few lvls after the beginning of SoA, when you gain 1x more of backstab and another poison weapon ability. Then you're able to have a good mage that can do some serious damage especially vs opposite mages. That's the best use of the poison weapon ability. If you can easily kill opposite mages your enemies without magic power are easier to kill IMO.
You're right about the pure thief abilies, but i think that the poison weapon is worth the loss of skill points for the above reason ;)

koz-ivan: This place is mostly just spam :D Read through the archives to get the idea.

I sometimes try to have a discussion, which every now and then actually succeeds. Not too often, though. :D

The *ahem* Guild Masters are indeed Assassin fans, and couldn't decide whether Assassins or Mages were more powerful, so they decided to merge the business into one.
