Eww... after Ctrl+Y-ing dozens of Beholders and Ctrl+R-ing my party a number of times, the motion gets kinda automative...

Ya just did! :D OK guys, this fills our shadow/mage quota for the month, we can now go back to the more important matters of orcas and miniskirts. :D

Just kidding, of course. Some more
solid discussion wouldn't look bad in this post.

For example, I will soon start writing Smart Mage scripts to give all those poor Liches and high level Mages a fair chance. Any suggestions about what to/not to do?

OK, I'll bite. :)

If you're looking for story continuity, you'd obviously have to include:
  • Minsc
  • Dynaheir
  • Jaheira
  • Khalid
  • Imoen
Which doesn't exactly leave you with many options. :D

And you'd have to travel with Viconia for some time as well, since she reminds you of that. When Khalid and Dynaheir kick the bucket, you can pick up Viconia again, which is good since the party doesn't have a Cleric yet. When you get to ToB, you should get Sarevok for continuity as well, bringing you back up to a full party.

Follow-up question: What kind of protagonist could this party use? It's a bit underdone in the Cleric department during BG1, and lacks a skilled Thief in BG2. Creating a Cleric and dualling to Thief in BG2 doesn't strike me as a particularly fun idea, though, and there are no Half-Orc Cleric/Thieves possible in BG1.

i posted a whole topic on this as well, but thought i would pose it to my brethren here as well (bump us from the BOTTOM of the SECOND page)
is there a file to edit to make a wild mage's wild surge teke effect more often that 5% of the time?
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor

I usually use a fighter type for my BG1 progtagonist. In BG1 it's not as much fun to play as a thief or a mage as in BG2, so I usually don't use them as much (for my main character anyway). Besides, the Baldur's Gate 'offical hero' Abdel is a fighter too.

P.S. We were on the third page guys!
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

WOOHOO! :D
First question, because I am very inexperienced with a thief. Do I have to get behind the person to backstab or just be hidden in shadows?

From what I've seen, you have to be in the 180 degree arc behind the target. You have to be invisible one way or the other (hide or magic).

We're not the type of guild/clan you seem to be thinking of. We're a group of people with common interests who discuss stuff on a message board, but we don't do competitive/cooperative play online together. There's really no need for us to acquire an entire channel just for casual conversation about strategy and spam.

Hello there!!!!
I've really a lot to do in these days.....so not much time for posting and playing BG....
Anyway..where are Dude and U-Niq???? Ahhhhhhhhh maybe they're enjoying their LONG awaited ToB.... :D
Welcome to the new member :p

Have you seen the new cloack of mirroring???? (the one after you install ToB)...really great graphic and finally less powerful vs beholder.

if you guyz are just doing that why devote a clan to just mages/theifs sounds kinda unfair and really unlogical cause i bet half the peeps in there dont even use mages/theifs anymore lol anyway i would just like to mention kinda dumb to do this why not just post like normal to make it easier

I don't really understand people that come here to ask why we continue posting or saying that maybe the "members" are not using mages or thieves......ok this topic is sometimes out of the lines, but we keep it clean, post some good discussion and strategies and, last but not least, have started some good friendship between some of us ;)
.....and now tell me that this is not enough to continue posting!!!!!
