About the blacksmith in ch3 (spoilers)

Post by Izgoth »

I'm just about to go on from ch3 to ch4. I'd like to make myself some items like the magic katana and the magic leather armor but I don't think there were any gargoyles at all in ch3 so I can't get the skull. The katana requires adamantine and I have never seen any of that yet. How are items that require adamantine supposed to be contructed?

I took a peek to ch4 and during my 10 mins of searching, I couldn't find the blacksmith there, so I assume I won't be able to forge items in ch4.

You have to carry ingredients around all the time to be sure to have them, I belive most of the locations are random, except when dropped by "boss"-enemies. (ei. Ironwood by Head-Galor in chp. 1)

And yes, I don't think there is a forge available in chp. 4 iirc.

Oh man. Where am I supposed to find admantine then? Many of the weapons require adamantine but I haven't found any of it in any chapter so far. I just have to figure out how to get myself a gargoyle skull in ch3. Maybe in the tomb in coldwood or in that elemental place?

Checked those places. Not a single gargoyle in ch3. I wish I had known about the forge and that there are no gargoyles in ch3. I didn't have a clue what I'm supposed to do with al lthose items before I found the blacksmith guy in ch3.

Any way I could hack myself a skull?

Only adamantine I found was in chapter 1, from half-orc bandit in Blacklake, and from Montgomery "Sureshot" in Zoo.

Doh, this is kinda sucky. Is the forged Katana any good? What about the light armor you can forge? I don't feel like continuing before I get atleast my gargoyle skull because I have killed more than enough gargoyles in ch1 and and 2. That darn flashlink keeps me from checking the weapon and armor stats too :(

Maybe there are more forges in later chapters? Don't tell me in which one, just tell me if there are any. I don't want to finish the game with my hide armor +3.

If your talking about Whitebone armor dont bother, it turns it into a +2 breastplate for some reason, which is freaking retarded. I think the katana was pretty good though.

Oh great so I don't need the armor then. Do you remember the stats of the Katana? I'm currently using an elemental katana or something like that. Enchantment bonus +3, 50% chance of instantly killing elementals with a DC of 14.

OMG that's sweet! Haven't found any adamantine in ch1, 2 and 3 so I can't make it tho :(

I assume ch3 is the last chapter where you can forge items, so I guess I won't be getting that sword then...

Did you take the Blacklake quests of getting rid of that half-orc in tower ruins, and freeing the zoo animals for Nyatar (found near hall of justice)? Half-orc should drop adamantine and Montgomery should too with +1 longbow. :) Btw 2-h sword is much cooler when you use adamantine, Harbringer kin +3 kicks butt :D

Nope I didn't do that quest. I thought I talked to every NPC and did every quest in my quest log but apparently I missed something. I guess I'll just have to hope that I'll find some even better katana then.

I just noticed there are only 4 chapters in the game so there definately will not be more forges. Oh well I'll just finish the game and start again with a sorc. The game is very short compared to BG2 :(

It is short, but it has the toolset =)

Oh yeah, that armour you talked about is NOT the Whitebone armor, the Whitebone armor is made in ch1, this armor adds a
15/+1 damage reduction on top of the +2 AC

Okey dokey, when you start again here it goes....Half-orc quest is found when you enter to no-man´s land between Core and Blacklake, there is a guy standing by the fire, talk to him. And zoo quest is found in Core. Nyatar is placed by the big tree between Temple of Tyr and Cloak Tower. If you are not a ranger or druid you might need to persuade him, but I don´t think it´s too hard. :)

Oh I remember those. I killed the half-orc and did the quest but no adamantine from him. I also tried to persuade the druid at the tree, but I wasn't good enough at it then. A sorc shouldn't have problems because of a high charisma score.

Got the 1.22 patch, and now the damn Head Gaoler does not drop anything. No Ironwood or halberd.
