what is this muntanim dungeons thingy?

i was going to the caves area to find out more info about the cult and to save this guys wife when i came across the green griffon inn. in it there was some contest about some dungeon. i went in and played it and it took very long so i stopped. what is this place? am i suppose to be here this early? is there anything good that comes out of it???

Nobody ever answered this (old post) and I am stuck in this quest and cannot find the solution. I cleared the place out and answered the question correct (I think) but don't see where to go next?

Answered my own question, what you get is 900 gp, some nice armor (lvl 11 reqd to use) which I need to identify yet, 500 exp, and if you can persuade him up to 300 more gp.

As you go through the dungeon, you'll collect three items: a crystal skull, a crystal frog and a crystal egg. In the final area of the dungeon, there is a gargoyle and a chest. Talk to the gargoyle and he will ask you a riddle. He then says to place the answer to the riddle in the chest. Spoiler: It's the crystal egg.

After placing the object in the chest, talk to the gargoyle again. If you picked the right one, the gargoyle will tell you that you've beaten the dungeon and he'll teleport you back to the beginning. Go talk to Muntamin and he'll give you 900 gp and some magic item(s). He also has some nice specialty items as well as some +2 weapons and armour.

There's also a fourth crystal object, an insect. I wonder if the question is always the same or if it's randomly chosen ...

You also get a chipped battle axe from Gorkan, which you need for completing Daelan's henchman quest.

It is always the same. If you put the wrong one in there a group of that type of creature appear and attack you. Fun for some extra XP.

a bug?

I don't seem to be able to get the reward from Mutanim (sp?). I can click on him, and click "continue" once, but the second time I click it, the game crashes. Has anyone else come across this, and is there a way around it?

I've yet to download any patches: they seem a bit suspect from what I've heard.
