League of Divinity

Post by The_Pope »

We've had the Brotherhood of the Woods. It is still alive, as a Neverwinter Nights clan. If you're a ranger or a druid, let me know and I'll direct you to our private forum.

This is something else.
Our rivals the Council of Mages and the Shadow Guild have created a union, the Shadow Mages, to oppose us. Well, I say we show them who the original guild is here.

I have thought about Manveru's proposal.
The Brotherhood now welcomes all kinds of divine spellcasters. Formerly, we just had rangers and druids, the forest folk. Now we accept all religious people, i.e. clerics and paladins can now join us.

I'm not sure about monks yet. They're not spellcasters, but they have spent their life in the service of wisdom nonetheless. So if there are any monks out there, let us know of your existence, so I might consider your membership.

To all rangers, clerics, paladins and druids: this is your guild! We are one!
Join us in our righteous cause.

Naturally it is place for me. I found the opportunity to correct my signature as well.

(Polish translators of LOTR made terrible mistakes)

I think that I could add that this is ecumenical league - So if you are the follower of Torm, Helm, Silvanus, Lathander or finally Talos then join to us.

@The_Pope : I think that Monks (as they have the same level improvement tables as clerics) could have the place within us.

Everything is good with one exception - all traitors (and great sinners as well) should be excommunicated.

So people, what is the best priest spell?

Image Image

I'll answer to that. It is a very simple answer. Unlike the Council of Mages discussion, it's a cool one as well, as I'm sure you'll all agree with me.

It depends on the situation.

I'll explain.
  • Mass Cure really rules. But only when you're wounded.
  • Righteous Magic is great. Only in big fights.
  • All kinds of Insect summoning is cool. When fighting spellcasters.
  • Regeneration might be one of the best spells ever (including arcane magic). It causes you to heal in the middle of combat without having to waste time on casting a healing spell. But again, it's only good in a big fight. Otherwise you can just use Heal.
  • And so on...
Conclusion: priest spells are definitely better than mage spells.

My favourite spells with explanation :

- All insects summoning spells (obvious target - mages)
- Mass cure (I think that everyone would agree - this is one of the most useful priest spells)
- Aerial Servant, Fire Elemental summoning (powerful creatures - I won many battles using them)
- Chaotic commands/Death ward/remove fear (the best protection from liches/mages and other spellcasting bastards)
- Gate (It is just fun Image Image - the most favourite spell)
- Shield of Archons (And we say bye bye my poor mighty mage Image )
- There are many other spells that are very good - these mentioned above are just the most often used by my characters.

What do you think about cleric/thieves ? Are they worth to join the League ?

Hmm...
Of course they would have to prove their worth in being a cleric. If their favourite spells etc. are decent enough according to our standards, I might just let them in.

BTW, Manveru, for your idea on creating this League, I hereby name you vice-president.

I do not fight for the good, but for the destruction, as Talos would want it.
Can such a member fit amidst the league of Divinity?

What i will do, however, is challenging you whenever the expansion will allow fights over the net, to show that Talos conquers all!

@Sigurd: As stated in the official The Pope's Signature (TM), people worshipping any god can join.
Just let me know your favourite spells, and I'll check your efficiency.

Helm sees all. I am a loyal servant of Helm. At your service.I am a priest of Helm. You can call me "the Equaliser" Image

Favorite spells: Summons, enchancing spells like Call Upon Holy Might, all kinds of healing and dispelling magic.

If you accept me, I'm in. You WILL get a loyal member from me.
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Since im a berzerker/cleric i mostly use spells in big fights only, and as a fighter tye i use draw upon holy might most often.
Aeriar servant is another one i prefer, my favourite summon, Skeleton warriors are good too, blade barrier of course(to think there will be a stronger version in ToB, hehe)

Im no cleric that casts support spells, no i am there crushing my foes with me mighty hammer.

Deathward is important, as that is pretty much my biggest weakness, all the items i wear give me immunity to almost everything, together with enrage.

@Robin_Hood & Sigurd: You're both in.

Please repeat after me.

I, insert-name-here, vow to do my best in the League of Divinity.
I shall not betray others of this guild, even if I follow an evil god.
I will, however, injure and kill as many members of other guilds as I can, preferably as much as possible, to an extent of every single member of the rival guilds.
I am now a trusted member, and I will wear the official League of Divinity T-shirt.
If I break these promises, I will hand over my T-shirt and leave the League forever, only to rot away in one of the other worthless guilds.

You are now proud members of the League of Divinity. I welcome you.

Hm, ok, but what about sparring matches? Just want to show other clerics the true path, the path of Talos!

Sigurd, Crazed cleric of Talos

I look forward to the sparring matches a lot actually, especially against those that follow the weak gods, and paladins.

@Sigurd: It should be clear by now that it is of no importance which god you follow, as long as you follow a god. If you don't like that, why would you want to join us?

Now, i feel like the dualthing in the expansion can be fun, dont want to be restricted to fight other classes, as similar classes will make it more fun.

But i will make my vows, i know where my loyalty lies.

However, "persuasion" cant be all wrong, can it? I am trying to show the strength of Talos, that is all

@sigurd : As I said earlier it really doesn't matter which god you worship - as long as you will not betray us for mage&thieves.

And about gods : I don't thing that Helm is weak - In the time of troubles all gods were made flesh with exception for Helm. It shows his importance for maintaining balance between good and evil.

About religions : I have some objections about all Cyric,Bhaal,Bane worshipers (as my PC will have to destroy Bhaal (or maybe Cyric as well) permanently in ToB).

(the possibility not allowed in game - but one could alaways make new priest kit something like Priest of Bhaal or Cyric)

those kits wont work, Bhaal is dead, remember?

Well, i killed both Helms and that other gods, (name insignificant)followers, they were weak.

No, i cant betray Talos for thieves or mages, they fight without the blessings of the gods, they can never win!

One question though, do I really have to attack other guilds' members? I mean, I am a priest of Helm, the god who keeps BALANCE.

And chill guys, you shouldn't be at each others' throats Image sigurd, by the way, I killed all Talassians, so they don't seem any more powerful than the others.
