For
1) Sub-races - Drow, Duergar etc
I'm eager to try some/all of these, but wonder if it will make the game extremely hard as to be virtually impossible
2) Dual classing too far away from the favoured class
I know the official figures, but what will it REALLY mean in being able to play the game?
Anybody?
How much of a hindrance do you think the experience point penalty will be:

Right everybody should hit level two at the same time. I don't think that the exp penalty should be too steep in most cases. Deep gnomes might be screwed there they are considered 3 levels higher for purposes of advancing.
The dual classing penalties should be easily avoidable. Some exceptions are bards, clerics and rangers. There really should be a race with cleric as favored multiclass. If you want to make a multiclass character it's probally not a bad idea to take a half-elf or human or a race that has that class as favored multiclass.
I'm really looking forward to playing an aaismar and the exp penalty dosen't bother me at all but then again I'm not planning on picking up an additional penalty for multi-classing.

Depends on how you play it. I've not made my primary spellcasters from these "advanced sub-races," because it would drastically slow down their getting spells. (Basically, they need enough experience to make a level as though they were a few levels higher than normal.) My bard, though, is a drow. I'm essentially using him for song support, so it doesn't matter quite as much.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
