Runestones of Ulgoth's Beard

Post by Firinflablaze »

Is there any point in getting the runestones obtainable in Ulgoth's Beard (the thief, the runestone merchant) and from the one off Ike? I seem to be able to access all areas of Durlag's Tower without them.

That's right - none of the runestones you can buy are necessary for accessing the tower.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

But is there any (any at all) use for the worthless things? Or are they just like the empty potion bottles in BG2?

The only use that i find it to complicate things and confuse the player once he reaches Dulgar's Tower, and maybe this is there purpose in the game. Or give a little more mythical image of Dulgar's Tower. :)
