Daelan's Notched Axe

Post by Rheomyr »

I am done with chapter 2 and ready to infiltrate Luskan but one quest still remains unfinished (and that bothers me a lot -- I want my amulet upgraded). I can't find the notched axe for Daelan the barbarian. Any idea where it can be? Thanks.

If I'm correct and I think I am the axe you are looking for is the one you can find in the green griffon inn when doing the hazzard run. You get to face a dwarf there and he drops the axe and it's unsellable so think that is it

There might a problem to get it however, after finishing Mutamin's Challange IIRC you cannot go back there.

Oops, I by-passed the dwarf without killing him. He did not turn "red" so I just ignored the guy. First, I used potion of invisibility to disarm traps. Later then I walked by (visible) he did not attack me, just growled some threats.
Thanks.

Also sometimes the guy doesn't appear at first. I had to run around like an idiot before he appeared.

Being crazy perfectionist I reloaded a savegame and killed the guy to my deepest satisfaction. This time he turned red and attacked me as soon as I entered his room. I don't know why he was blue before. The same thing was with Wyvern, the outlaw ranger in Neverwinter wood. He summoned animals and ordered them to kill me, but they stayed blue and neutral and so did Wyvern himself. I had to struck him first because I needed his ear, otherwise I could just walk away with no problem. Sort of glitch.

what up?!

ok, so I cleaned that little dwarven monkey.....and all he gave me was a Battleaxe: +3........the axe itself looked notched on both sides, but it was sellable. If that was it then I guess I must buy it back....but was that it?

It was sellable?? Are you sure you did not have another similar battleaxe in your inventory at the same time (there is a lot of chests in this dungeon containing treasure)? The dwarf does drop Dealan's axe, but it is worth 0GP and then you examine it you read something like "there is a notch on this axe".

There is no name, it is just a regularly looking axe or battleaxe (sorry, I don't remember exactly). None of the quest items you happen to find in this game has an attached tag to it pointing to any ownership. You have to figure that out yourself. However, you cannot sell any significant quest item. Try it and you will see.

You can go to the temple and look into the well. Usually all lost/misplaced quest items will reappear inside this well.

Good Point! I will look there to see if it shows up. I do know about the quest items, but just didn't see that axe there. Hmmm, interesting.......I don't know If I should ask this here, but where do we find Linu's Journal......well not her's but her husband's.....Is it in the Gor'tal Temple? if I should re post this just tell me.

Linu's husband is long dead. You can find his body (and the journal) lying in a plain view on the floor in one of the dungeons. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact location. If you would like to be ultimately spoiled, go ahead and post. But I would suggest to search every corpse you stumble upon in the dark corridors.

As far as I know, Linu´s husband can be found in the Creator´s ruins in Chapter 2. It´s the quest where an archaeologist sends you into some troll- infested ruins to obtain a scroll which proves the creator race´s existence.

Highlight to see
The journal can be found on a body at the Troll Caves Level 1 on the East Road.

I went to the dwarf with another character in another game and this time he didn't even show up.....none of the npc's from the inn did. Now that was wierd.

Talking to them before entering Mutamin's Challenge might help, but i don't know why the other competitors did not show up.

IIRC the conversation with the dwarf before you enter the competition is a little tense if you choose some dialog options. Anyway i still think that the things you say to the dwarf have some effects once you meet him inside again but i haven't checked it.
